When you end up grinding in Stranglethorn and all the sudden the trees start speaking orcish and gutter speak

I had 100g at lvl 40.

I think skinning is definitely key. I grinded beasts quite a bit in my mid lvl 30s and skinned them. Between vendoring skins and vendor trash I made quite a bit. I like shimmering flats for mob grinding personally. STV is also good, but increased risk of ganking of course. Also, I only upgraded the skills relevant to my core rotation. Ignored everything else.

That's it really.

I just hit level 38 earlier today and I have 63g saved up. I wish I would have kept track of all my earnings total so I could see how much I've spent in comparrison. My fishing, Cooking and First aid are all 225+, My skinning is 225+, and my herbalism is a solid 90 something. I've been buying gear every five or so levels, purchasing 'unnecessary' spells, and leveling my professions.
Yes, I could have more but honestly I'll have the other 17g tomorrow from vendoring alone. The 'secret' to having your mount at 40 is to just not overspend. You can buy a little gear here and there, you can buy distracting shot if you're a hunter, you could upgrade Arcane if you wanted. The only thing that matters is stopping yourself from overspending, that doesn't mean you need to pinch every single penny. Vendor your greens unless they go 2x vendor price on the AH, Vendor your leather because the AH is barely higher and there's 1000+ people selling the same 20 stack of heavy leather.

As an Alliance toon, STV is a huge pain to quest in, simply because there's no flight point between Darkshire and Booty Bay. It's not so bad when you get your mount, but until then, I avoid it.

As a level 37 Mage Skinner, beating up turtles is quite profitable. Some of them drop vendor bait that's worth 9 silver each, a stack of 5 is 45 silver, and it only takes an hour or so of grinding to get 3 or 4 gold just from gray drops. When skinned, they drop mostly heavy leather, with some thick leather thrown in. They also give turtle scales, worth a silver each at the vendor, I haven't checked the AH value yet. Plus the odd green drop, of course.

exact the same spots where ive been farming for my mount, we re on the same wave :D
p.s. for basilisks in STV you can farm in the cave, not that much ppl inside and +rare mob spawns. ofc it depends on your server population, but still

Step 1: Download auctioneer
Step 2: Pick up Herbalism/Mining and Skinning
Step 3: Profit

I recently made a rogue on a new server and did this. Not only did I have more than enough gold for my mount by 38. I also bought 4 Silk and 4 Runecloth bags during the process, as well as a level 32 blue mace and green dagger.

Another tip is to not buy skills that you either hardly ever use, or have very little bang for their buck. An example of the former is the later hunter tracking abilities. An example of the latter is upgrading a rogue's gouge and kick: you already have their utility, and the added damage is negligible. I did end up learning, upon buying my mount, that this ended up being pointless due to the strategy I first mentioned. But, your server's AH economy may vary.

Was just told about the farming in deeolace the other guy but the guy said he farmed the crocolisks and not the other beasts. Farmed it for a bit and now I will be able to get my mount

I understand the beasts yield a lot of gold in this game mostly if you're a Skinner. I would recommend any hunters to put points into humanoid and beast slaying in the Survival tree. It'll give you the extra boost in having an upper hand not only with beasts but potential gankers as well.

Great guide Meta! Keep it up! Grats on the subs too!

I grinded mobs at lvl 37 in Badlands. Grinded 12 bars of experience. took like 2 hours or something. Ended up with 12g with skinning. Killed elder coyotes and the ridgehuntresses only. Doing this from 37-40 will give me like 70g.. all depends on drops and luck tho

I got a loan from a pally to get mine at 45. I had almost 300 in all my profs by 40. That’s where most of the cash went.
