How to Create A Contact Group on iPhone (iOS 16)

Learn how to create iPhone contact groups using iCloud or the Messages app.

Making iPhone contact groups allows you to quickly send a message or email to multiple people. Counterintuitively, if you want to create a group in Contacts on an iPhone and use it for email, you'll need to do so on a Mac or PC. The contact group will then sync to your iPhone automatically via iCloud. If you want to create a contact group for text messages, you can do that in the iPhone Messages app. We'll teach you how to add groups on your iPhone using either of these methods.

You used to be able to text iPhone contact groups as well as email them, but that feature no longer works. However, the Messages app lets you create a group text on your iPhone, name it, and pin that chat to the top of the Messages app so you can easily find and text that contact group any time. GUYS I THINK I FIGURED IT OUT
1. Go to iPhone messages app
2. On the right corner click note pen icon
3 Type the peoples names you wish to add to group chat (separately) (should show up green for each name )
4. Then on the the bottom that says type message type like a random word or number just to send to other people to start group
5. The group chat will be new and with all the people you chose to add will be there
(I HAVE IPHONE SO I DONT KNOW IF IT WORKS FOR ANDROID!)

Changing text group name worked for all my iMessages contacts. Too bad I have to make a second (unnamed) group for my Android contacts :(

Being able to create separate text groups for work, family, etc., used to be easily done and was helpful. Since it was such a winner, that ability has now been eliminated. YAY!!

How do you create the contact list with both iPhone and Android users? Specifically a larger group ex 50-100 people without everyone getting the replies?
