I know it's been a decade but I figured it's best to leave this comment here instead of any other malware video:

I was playing Tron: Evolution at the time when it was released, and there was a character (essentially a computer virus) that shared the same name as this virus, which was no doubt an intentional choice from the team, which then I stumbled onto this video after finding that out. I got so invested in "cybervirology" with a lack of any term I knew/know I kept watching your videos.

Fast forward 10 years to now as I type this up, when viruses are obviously no longer quite a huge threat, replaced by ransomware and more direct and active forms of attack, I'm now working as a security software engineer. I hope to stay in the cybersecurity industry and keep working my way up, but you've inspired me, if not many of us that I'm not aware of, to enter this world.

I still find it amazing how much a virus like this in the past could just freak out people.  It's either a sound, blood across your screen, silly messages while your HDD encrypts itself. Today's viruses are just pitiful.

The ''Garbage Text'' could be just displaying some code as character data

basically, a bunch of characters look like the ASCII equivelent of some stack opcodes (E8 xx xx), then additional x86 NOP opcodes (0x90) along with misc. other code

Abraxas only infects the first file in any directory, due to a bug.  It will search for DOSSHELL.COM in the DOS directory and infect it.  It will not infect COMMAND.COM.
