"Frank, where'd the middle of you go?"

I sincerely regret never watching the end bits. They're criminally good.

Microphones are one of the few categories where no matter if you’re spending £30 or £3000, you can be happy.

In all fairness to the Snowball, the original model used a USB to USB-B cable (the kind used for printers) so having a mini-usb is an upgrade.

So Samson not only makes one of the best cheap headphones, they make one of the best cheap mics? These guys are killing it.

I did it. I FINALLY caught up with Dankpods. Months ago I started watching all the videos in chronological order. I think I got to about the Galaxy Buds Pro video when I realized how much I was missing by not watching his Patreon videos. So I became a Patron and started over from the very beginning to get the full Dankpods extended edition experience. Now I'm finally caught up. First channel I've ever gone out of my way to watch everything on.

Damn, the stories just have a very different vibe when they are on a "proper" mic

As someone with a blue snowball I gotta say when I got it, it was $35 at walmart so for the price I got it at it was way worth the money. I have been thinking about getting a new mic but still need to find the right one to take my snowballs place. Every mic shown here are great once you get used to them and that's what makes the magic of usb microphones, easy to use and can get better when you mess around with settings!

Question: Has anyone tried feeding his stories into a machine learning algorithm to make a Dankpods Story Generator?

I've had that Samson mic for years now ever since I built my first PC. I've upgraded every single part since then except for that mic, it works great for all I need. I've even added a nice esk mounted mic arm (again from samson, which is also amazing for the price) and a cheap pop filter from amazon. Unless I for some reason need a different mic or this one breaks, I don't plan on upgrading because it does all I need it to with simply plugging it in and putting it on a mic arm (for anyone that has it, you can take the feet off if you mount it to an arm so they don't get in the way with a screw on the bottom of it) and running it through nvidia broadcast for noise reduction (because I basically always have a fan and random noises in the background). I highly recommend it if anyone needs just a nice solid mic for cheap.

I was thinking about buying a mic for christmas, and now DankPods releases a whole video about mics.

Sometimes life is perfect.

What I tend to recommend for a "cheap" microphone is the Samson Q2U. It's insanely versatile! It's a handheld dynamic mic with a little stand so you can use it at your desk or... in your hand. It's got both USB *and* XLR outputs, so you can use it right out of the box through USB and keep using it if you decide to upgrade to an interface setup. Through USB, you can use the headphone port on the back for monitoring. Being a dynamic mic, it naturally has some rejection of room noise, so it's more friendly for use in any old space. I've seen the price float from $50 to $70 U.S. All in all, it's a great value and a great starting point.

Cant wait for him to tell all of his antics to us through the mic tests!

this video indirectly made me realise that the blue line of microphones are way too overpriced for what they offer

The coolest part about Samson is that it can also work as a soundcard. Yes, a soundcard! Once you connect your headphones to it you can not only hear your voice when unmuted, but also play some tunes from Mac/PC.

Re: the manuals. I think the difference is Samson is a legit audio company specialising in live audio that's been around ages. It's just that little bit of polish understanding that their mics are going to be used for home recording vocals and instruments and need to setup a bit differently depending on the instrument as well. It's absolutely amazing the quality you can get for home recording and with such simplicity.
Though I do think it's hard to go past 2nd hand sm57/sm58 + cheap desk(careful of fakes floating around though) as an all rounder setup. Legit tanks. Got lucky personally about 3 years ago that a local studio was closing down and I had known the owner for almost 20 years that he gave me an EV RE20 (best vocal mic I've heard), 3 x Sm57, 2xSm58's for $500AUD.

the incredible christopher nolan-esque twist of the dog actually being the main character's little cousin is why i want him to get a movie or a show.
