I worked at my university library. There were countless publications written on ww3 type scenarios hidden amongst other books. They were all from the 70s and 80s. I remember one that gave a description with a timeline of events of what would happen after a shooting match had begun.

It described survivors fleeing from city centers and described them as "zombies" because many would be suffering from severe burns and would be emotionally shocked that they wouldn't be behaving rationally. And that those fleeing from the devastation would be as big of a problem for the country as the soviet union.

There was lots of conjecture and nothing that a script writer from Hollywood couldn't come up with. It was a time the government threw money at anyone with any credentials to help stay ahead during the cold War. Very interesting stuff.

I feel like with all of the military secrets of both countries both sides definitely have stronger weapons than in the past that the other side just doesn’t know about yet and one of those dropping on the world would actually effect the world itself not just the people who pass from it dropping

If this happens I'll be happy that I'm in a targeted area. Watching/reading end of the world scenarios was exciting when I was young. But I'm retired now and I wouldn't want to face the horrors of that world.
