When I was in college, circa 1975, I befriended my Physics Professor. One day when we were chatting about random things, he brought up holography. Of course, I was fascinated. He invited me to join an "Advanced Physics" course the next semester that was essentially an intro to holography. As I recall, the most powerful laser the college had at the time was a 30 mW on a fixed, vibration stabilized table, so our depth of field was pretty limited. Lining up all of the mirrors, collimators, spatial filters, etc. and finally making small holograms of some trinket was one of the coolest things I've ever done.

I’m more confused now than before. So can you transfer a 2-D image to a hologram glass?

Oh come on, you had the hologram right there and decided to just get closer perpendicular to the surface. The awesome part is that you can move around and see other perspectives of the object. Missed opportunity
