In this video I take a shot look at the limited edition Hornby LNER A4. This model is LNER 4464 Bittern and is modeled on the loco that is in the one to one collection at Hornby's visitor center in Margate UK.

The one I got suffered from serious quality control issues which I had to fix up. If you get one thats been made properly like the one you have then its a really good model.

The plaque on the side is for its 90mph runs in 2013, at the time the fastest locomotive in preservation. Only problem is the 2nd tender isn't actually the one for Bittern, its just a Flying Scotsman one that Hornby have painted in Garter Blue. Bittern should have a completely different shape of water tank but Hornby have cut corners with this part of the model, presumably to save having to tool up a new tender for a single limited edition model.

Great video sir, I love Bittern, such a wonderful steam locomotive. She runs well. I’ve got this steam engine for my birthday present, few months ago. Thanks for sharing this, best wishes from Josh

Looks lovely.

It's still a shame about the Black Label A4, but I guess this is the next-best thing!

I've come from your class 800 consist and wonder if you would be able to retry it with swivelling Hunt or Kadee couplers?

Great review Matt it looks very nice I think the thing that lets this model down is the fact that it is a limited edition model

nice shot of Bittern and the plaque on the side is like Mallards but different when Bittern did 90mph in 2013 in order to celebrate Mallards unbeaten World Speed record

Matt, I have recently been making a few video's for my channel with 4 on there so far, however I am slightly worried that it may not be taking off as well as I would like it to, I am wondering if it's my voice or if it might be the length of the video's. I am a bit unsure. Please can you give me some advice on what I could possibly do to make mine sound or look more interesting as I am currently in the middle of changing the layout slightly. Please help me out a little as I'd truly appreciate it. Thank you.

Got mine last year, it’s not a display model for me, runs very well on my layout in Australia 😀

A very lovely model. I would like to own one and run on "Yorkdale" when it is finished. I know they removed the skirts to make maintenance easier, but why did they leave that part over the cylinders. It spoils the profile of the side view. I do have a Mallard in Blue with full skirts. (Tender Drive) Martin. (Thailand)

Great review, I wonder how they used turntables with this set up .

I guess that the second tender was the original one made a few years ago spruced up

What a nice looking thing it is tho shame the real one is in storage at Margate. The only other locomotive with a double tender was in fact flying Scotsman and when finished hopefully we will get to see bittern steam again like it did all those years ago. James Joseph JJ Dyer

Do wish that Hornby sold the water tender separately..

Wow I didn’t even knew she was out of service look like all the A4’s just getting overhauled Sir Nigel Gresley, Union of South Africa out of service no telling if he coming back or not.
