FUSE BLOCKS VS CIRCUIT BREAKERS, WITH JP!

Making sure your equipment is protected from heat and surges is crucial for amplifier lifespan. The importance of fuses and circuit breakers can't be stressed enough. Although one seems more likely to be the industry standard, both can play key roles in managing power and performance in your system.
In this video, JP gives us the rundown on both fuses and circuit breakers. Let us know in the comments which team are you? Are you Team No Fuse, Team Fuse Block or Team Circuit Breaker. Give us your feedback on both, we'd love to hear from you!

Thanks for the mention of my channel. More JP amp videos coming soon 🤘

I use both. Fuses in the back before and after batt, and breaker in the front under the hood. It is convenient for jump starting other vehicles because I prefer to isolate the rear from the front

I run 3-300 amp fuse holders under the hood and 2 Stinger 300 amp circuit breakers in the rear. I use the rear circuit breakers as a battery isolator. I also like them cuz it's easy to just flip the switch when I have a mechanic working on my car. Then he will only have to disconnect the front battery and not mess with anything in the rear.

I’ve ran circuit breakers for yrs and have NEVER had an issue. Made sure that I always had the correct amperage breakers mounted 6 inches from the front battery going to the rear battery. Then 6 inches from the rear batteries to the fuse block for the amps. Current setup is all deaf bonce clamping about 9200 watts. Never can have too much protection.

Team Fuse Blocks hands down period aka SAFETY

JP if you stock breakers that will hold 1/0 wire without having to butcher the rings to fit and range in 100-300amp range I bet you'd sell a bunch. Hell make some that allow ya to just insert the wire with a ferrel instead of using a ring terminal and those would fly off the shelf too.

I definitely be interested in circuit breakers way more than fuse holders... Just no one builds them for the car audio community specifically

I myself am running circuit breaker, battery isolator and a fuse block between my AGM battery and the D4S LTO with a 500 farad cap bank in my setup. Not to mention a relay with a strip to have the soft turn on for my amplifiers.

I’m running a circuit breaker in my Subaru under the hood at 300amp on my all of my amps and accessories that’s been relocated to battery number 2 of my car off of a 3 post charging isolator. Also, I have a 300amp fuse before my battery inside my car, (and of course, every accessory is fused as well). So I’m in the middle…. Sorry for skewing the vote. I have a mix. Any questions why, ask away!!!

You should bring in heavy duty circuit breaker’s I had been using circuit breaker’s but changed to fuses because I don’t think 350 amp breaker’s rating was correct, keep popping when I would turn my Orion 8k up, and not full power either, had 2 in parallel that should have been good for 700 amps but they would pop after a few minutes of running it hard, but not full tilt like 5 db down from max SPL, I switched to fuse’s and no problem but they take up a lot of room and scare me when you put them in ⚡️

Team fuse holder from day one. I have had many “versions” over the years. But smd protects my jp amps

I've seen The Soundman Doug Bernards use a circuit breaker in one of his vehicles.

I'm definitely been running circuit breakers and I got fuse blocks so I use both

Yes, circuit breakers can be applied to eliminate the flow of electricity due to a short. However, the fuse block can massively obtain a higher voltage recommended for increased electrical frequencies. Depending on the audio setup will determine how you want to conduct a solid audio system.

Are used a ANL use for the main battery and two circuit breakers in between batts for the amp and second battery with an isolator, breakers were more likely to trip with heat in the engine bay so that was the reason why I use the ANL fuse

Yo JP I think you should take this chance to engineer a bad ass line of circuit breakers with higher amp loads 💪💪👊

I run both but I do prefer circuit breakers due to the ease of cutting off power when its time to swap amplifiers. I run 100 & 300a breakers. MR JP if you sellum I'll buy um. and they have different styles too just like fuse holders.

I’m running a combination of fuse blocks and circuit breakers with my new build. Circuit breaker under the hood and a distribution fuse block back by the amplifiers.
