Are you being UNDERPAID? 🥴

✨ “Do your research!” they say… but like HOW tho?? 🤔

Figuring out if you’re underpaid isn’t an exact science (ugh), but here’s how to do some real salary research like a pro:

📌 Step 1: Google “BLS salary lookup”, go to your state, and check the official average pay for your role. 🏛️💰

📌 Step 2: Head to Glassdoor or PayScale and look up salaries for your job title to get more data. 📊

📌 Step 3: Search job listings in states that require salary transparency (looking at you, California & New York 👀). It’s a great way to see what companies are actually paying right now.

📌 Step 4: If you’re comfortable, swap salary info with trusted coworkers to boost transparency. Knowledge = power. 💡

And remember, if you suspect you’re underpaid, you can ask for a raise at any time. The worst they can say is no. 😉

You got this! 👏 #salarytransparency #careerhacks #getpaid

"it never hurts to ask for a raise."

I knew a guy once that he was always looking for interviews. He didn't want to quit his job, but leveraged them to negotiate better salaries in his performance reviews.

Asking co-workers is the best thing it's not illegal to know. If the company says you can sue them.

omg the us is complicated. In austria in a lot of industries we have a collective agreement for every sector like sales, marketing, industrial metal work etc. that most of the companies stick to and they set a minimum of how much a certain group should be making. A lot of people do get paid more than their minimum but it at least sets a guide line

Don't forget to have your "I love me book" (what we called our achievement and awards binder in the Army) for when you ask for a raise and/or promotion.

This inspired me to finally ask for my performance review!

I was denied a promotion for the job I am already doing because I don't have the degree to "qualify". Don't really have to think that hard about it.

Hey Erin, what about Job positions for remote workers based overseas? I am specifically from Mexico and I am under the contractor figure for a US company. I hold a US certificate and I am still learning about the industry. It would be nice if you have a time to post a short for this situations too…

PS. Your channel helped me landing my current job, I am about to accomplish one year :), thank you!

Can we please have a long version of this please? Especially if the budget for the department is extremely limited.

I tried asking the HR directly as its not matching the rate of inflation. She politely declined😅

Could you plan out what an interview for a starter job would look like? Like maybe a fast food restaurant, or a like a dollar tree. Something you know you’re not going to be working at for awhile.

Erin, we have to make sure this BLS data is still available.

These videos are extremely helpful!
But they’re for the States, whereas I live in Canada and when I finally study enough for jobs I want, I want to work somewhere in Europe.

If the company is making a profit, they are selling your labor for more than they give you for it.

Easy, start with how much you need to survive for a year, how many hours you're willing to work in a month, multiple that by number of months you're willing to work in, include vacation, emergency, home investment fund and retirement... And that's the amount you need to make. Who cares what the job title claims the ultimate question is, is it enough for you to live off and have a quality life. If not, then keep looking or build skills to start your own business... Enough with labour exploitation. If your job is manual, join your local unions. You deserve to have enough to live a quality life. ❤
