Love this! This is real life and budgeting. Most of the videos out there do not have real budget numbers or a family with. Thank you for sharing!

Congrats Congrats on your Hubby's new job. There is nothing better than a fresh new start with more opportunities. Shopping in bulk definitely helps me stay in budget for groceries. That first trip is always a budget buster because you are getting everything, but you don't usually run out of everything at the same time so the future trips will be where you see those savings. Maybe plan to spend a bit more that month before you go if you try bulk shopping.

Hey Lauren, congratulate your husband on the new job. I understand that in the short term, you do have to make sacrifices in start ups. (In my career, I went from middle size company, to start up, to HUGE (NEC) to start up, to large (Motorola), to start up. Here is the good news. startups are where you can get big boosts to your portfolio if they have change in the company ownership. Second, as you mentioned, working in a startup gives you much more a feeling of an accomplishment. Of course, they have less protection if the business you are working in, hits a rough spot. (Most likely, the business you are involved in, IS what the company is involved in. Where in a large company, one division's issues can be off set by another's good fortunes.

I suspect regardless if you get the good size win or not, your husband may want to continue to work in smaller companies. After being involved in two IPOs and three other ownership changes, I did promise myself prior to retiring not to go back to a large company. (BTW, I was at my last employer I think 10 years. Never had enough equity to matter much, and although I did exercise my stock options. My motivation in exercising was similar to buying a lottery ticket. Dont ever expect to have them be worth much, but I would kick myself if I let them expire and the company did sell. I will tell you, at a small company, the people you work with are essential and key. No where to hide in a small one. But a good team, can be so rewarding in so many ways.

Congrats to your family on your husband’s new job. I was thinking the same thing, maybe the benefits will get better as the company grows 🤞 but its very exciting either way that he has found a job he is enjoying 😊

Congrats! I completely agree about homeownership! You don’t even realize the total amount you’ve invested until you do the math 😂 We invested about $30k in our old house that we had for 10 yrs bc we tried to sell 3 times lol 🤦‍♀️

Does your cat have health issues? Or do you put some of the monthly $250 aside for potential vet expenses? I want to start budgeting but my spending is so out of control I don’t know where to start
