Potassium manganate(VII) is also known as potassium permanganate. This is one of the strong oxidizing agents. An oxidizing agent oxidizes another substance and itself gets reduced. Potassium permanganate under acidic conditions forms colourless Mn2+ ion during the redox reactions.

My book says that that Mn+2 has pink colour (it doesn't mention acidic KMnO4)

Another section says that when KMnO4 is acidic the colour oh Mn+2 is colourless
