So what would be the issue if my side post neg came off while driving and the vehicle died on the spot. I could even open my door but thank God a guy stopped and screwed the neg into the post and it stayed till I got home.

This is bad for your alternator. That’s why when your car dies on the side of the road jumpstart won’t help it because the alternator has gone bad and that drain the battery causing the car not to run jumping will do it no good.

Alternators have no magnets, so how can they generate electricity like the old car “generators” that had magnets when the 12V battery is removed?

Mine died after 30 seconds when i disconected the positive terminal 04 mustang 3.9v6.

My battery light is on the dash, alternatir is less than 3 months old.

If i let the battery drain to near empty and then start the car (hear starter struggling because i started it abd shut it off several times to lower the battery) and let it run fir 5 minutes avd shit ut off, it starts up jist fine.clearly the alternator has to be charging.
