caused by a weak battery.

battery replacement has fixed this issue on this Mercedes Benz C Class 2.1 diesel

10 degrees F this AM, I previously suspected that the battery would soon need to be replaced. The car started begrudgingly, then this message popped up. Thanks for posting, will have dealer test and replace the battery if need be.

On 2019 C300 - do NOT fully remove the battery clamp at the front bottom of the battery that holds the battery down - Just loosen it sufficiently to lift the battery out. I fully remove the clamp (as seen in other videos) and it turnout the nut that the clamp bolt goes into is not part of the bottom tray, It is loose metal piece with a nut in it. That piece moves around and even if you carefully center it on the tray hole the bolt is not long enough, There is very little room to even get to the metal-piece with the nut in the right position. Finally I screwed the battery clamp's bolt into in the metal piece holding the metal piece with nut with my fingers. Then with the clamp loose I put the battery in - there was some room to slide the battery into the tray with the loose clamp at bottom and then I tightened the bolt in.

The fact that the nut for the clam bolt is not part of the bottom tray or that the metal piece with nut is not properly attached to the plastic tray or the metal thing below it is such a stupid design, Most folks would remove the battery clam completely.. Generally Mercedes engineering is very very good but not in this case - a stupid design that probably the Mercedes engineers have been instructed to not remove the clam completely. Previous C300's did nit have a such a stupid design (based on videos I have seen on you tube).

When it's says recharge and test it means, fully recharge, completely. with a smart charger eg: I use Optimate 111. This will bring a bad battery back to life you may have to repeat charging two or three times. This charger is smart. I use it on my motorbikes, l leave it on all winter as a trickle charge. I have had two bike batteries say they are U/S after three charges, they are as good as new.

After I leave it more than 20min the massage disappears and come back in next days will I need to change the battery

I just replaced a low charging battery with a new one on my 2019 C300. *Does the 2019 C300 require that the new battery be programmed in?*. I don't have the device shown in this video and don't really want to pay $150 or so to the Mercedes dealer to reset the battery as a new one, O know that some models to require to because in those models the car send a higher voltage from the alternator to the battery as the battery gets old and so with a new battery you have program the car to recognize a new battery and reset to the default amount of charging or a new battery.

BTW before replacing the battery the charging voltage with the car running was 14.92Volts and with the new battery it is the same.

C350e hybrid had auxiliary battery malfunction for a few weeks and then today I got this same message stop and leave engine running...so my hybrid bit drained my regular battery?😊

2 day ago 2009 Mercedes Benz gl450 dashboard warning lights come on as "Drive to workshop without changing gear, " I disconnect negative terminal on battery, now the sign is disappear the engine turn on and transmission go on all gears. do you have any ideas what was wrong with it

I’ve got the same fault on my 64plate c class, I’ve been told that the battery is fine but it maybe a capacitor problem installed in the passenger foot well, any thoughts??

My 2018 c220d has also been showing the same message for the past week when I start the car up in the morning but the message goes away after driving for 10 mins or so. I'm getting a new battery fitted tomorrow morning.

I got my battery tested at Kwick Fit a couple days ago they said the battery was fine, then again they were using an out of date battery tester from like 20 years ago, nothing like what your using Lol
