Error in the video: The CPU is an i7 960, not i5!

Beautiful showcase.of a high-end XP PC. Nice showing the advantages of going with a Radeon!

All great picks to max XP, while staying within the period, as most went from XP to 7 for gaming. I7-960 is nearly as fast as 2500K.

I rebuilt a XP rig recently, overclocked Q6600, and GTX 950 (960 was overkill with C2Q), but I just used what was in storage.

Ahh, the Zalman Z3 Plus. I had the white version of this case in my highschool days, back when 60$ could get you a decent case with 4 fans from the factory

Great video, my xp machine is currently a 7800gt with a zalman fan & e8600 on a 775 board but recently been thinking about a new xp build, something more like this. Thanks for showing & I'm off to dig through the boxes of parts

This CPU has my country name on it. Crazy time in history when we shipped bananas, pineapples and microprocessors. Probably in the same container.

Higher refresh rates do work on XP with Kepler and Maxwell, but only on Displayport. Could not get it working on HDMI or DVI. Also, the latest driver (368.81) is broken in that regard, you must use version 355.98.

On my GTX 970, I get 1920x1080 at 100 Hz, and 1440x1080 or lower at 120 Hz. That rig also dual boots to Windows 7, where everything works at 144 Hz.

Nice, my XP machine uses a GTX750 and an i3 that I got from a recycling bin

Nehalem and lynnfield are the last processors I had fun overclocking. You could actually feel the difference and not just in benchmarks.

I love X58 X5675. Used it since 2019 when i retired my asrock p67 pro3 i7 2600k. now only for retro since I use the ryzen 3600.

Hotdamn! That's a very nice setup for WinXP. I wish I had something like that. Maybe one day.

I always liked Intel motherboards, I had an Intel D975XBX2 (Bad Axe 2) back in the day, fine piece of hardware.

Excelent video!

Dang, that's almost my old computer, just a couple of brand differences, and the motherboard was an Asus Sabertooth x58. It was my primary machine from like...2011 to 2022, though in the last two years of that I upgraded the CPU to a Xeon X5660. X58 platform was amazing for longevity.

I do use k62-550/512ram/Asus5950 128mb/Sb Live, IP4-3.2HT 1mb cache/4gb ram/HD3850 512mb/SB Audigy 2/, Core2Q9650/12gb ram/GTX970 4gb/SB X-fi Fatality for retro gaming. And i also have an i7 960 with mobo, but not assembly it.

i had an hd6950 years ago and it was a trooper despite being underpowered for the modern games but as long as i got 60fps at low settings, it was good enough for me lol

Two XP machines. One Athlon 64 X2 4800+ running on a S939 nForce3 250 with 2GB of Kingston HyperX DDR 400 in dual channel, a 256MB XFX 6600GT and a SB0090 Audigy PCI. for the likes of MS Flight Simulator 2002 & other early XP games. The other a Q9650 running on a S775 P35 with 8GB of G.Skill DDR2 1000 in dual channel, a 2GB EVGA 750 Ti SC and a SB0090 Audigy PCI for mid-late XP games.

A really enjoyable video. I have to say I was surprised when you used the word 'thingy' 😂

my main winxp machine is a igel m340c with AMD GX-424CC at 2.4ghz and Radeon R5e. Anything that doesn't run on that runs fine on my daily computer anyway

I second you opinion that Nvidia for XP is worse in terms of compatibility than Ati/AMD. I've got two XP PCs - one with a GTX750Ti and another one with an HD7750 and the latter plays ANYTHING I throw at it from the 98/XP era (driver v13.1 - totally recommended) unlike the one with Nvidia... Not only more compatible but supports GPU scaling, 0-255 over HDMI etc.
