Consoles: Rent (Episode 1)

Consoles is an animated cartoon about Playstation, Xbox, Switch, and PC — four robots sharing a downtown apartment. The audio was mixed in Adobe Audition, the robots were drawn in Adobe Fresco, the animation was done using performance capture in Adobe Character Animator, and finally everything was edited and composited in Adobe After Effects.

Wow, after going through so many of your tutorials and all that I have learned from them... watching this is kind of like seeing behind the curtain. I'm paying attention to the hand pointing and other arm gestures. What the camera is doing. How often the shot changes. The lip sync. The walking. Stuff in the scene for perspective. What the background is doing. Etc. I wouldn't have noticed any of these things before going through your tutorials and building from them.

Per usual Dave, amazing work! Love the small details in each robot, giving our eyes and brain more information about who's who just by looking at them. Also, the scene camera work was phenomenal. The slow push-in at the beginning with the foreground objects out of focus, that was a nice touch. In you're tutorial please include how you made that quick camera pan (0:18 - 0:20) from Xbox to PS. I've only been able to do cut transitions with the camera and not actual moving shots which adds a whole 'nother level of realism. VERY COOL!


I could go on and on about this video but I would be in these comments forever. Thank you once again to you and the CH team for creating such a remarkable piece of software. I'm looking forward to the new updates for 2020, and also hopefully my Wife and I will make more progress on the cartoon we're creating. Right now we're developing the story, as well as, the world which we realize is important to visually sell it. Once we have something worth sharing we'll make sure you know about it.

Love it! There is a slight delta between Playstations audio quality and the rest, but i'm guessing from your excellent tutorial he recorded his audio separately from the rest and pinged it over for you to slice in? Which is one of the brilliant things you can do with this medium. Thanks for the inspiration in this and other videos 👍🙂

Superb creativity, scripting was simple but detailed enough to understand the possible direction the show could have, and most of all I absolutely loved the personality your characters have. I almost felt like each system would converse in this manner if they could speak. 🤣👌👏
