Today we explore Makati’s amazing food spots based on recommendations from friends and family – and it did not disappoint! We had an AMAZING time trying out tacos from El Chupacabra, delicious snacks and cocktails at Blackbird at the Nielson Tower, and Afternoon tea at the Lobby Lounge at the Peninsula Manila.

We hope you enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed filming it!
We’re looking forward to sharing more food spots soon!

See you next week!

OUR GEAR:

Hey there! We’re Cary and Cris. Earlier this year we decided to quit our jobs and leave our beautiful island of Kauai to pursue a life of full-time travel. Being ex-chefs, our worlds pretty much revolve around food and beverage. So, we thought it would be fun to take you with us as we eat, drink, and explore the world.

I really love the personality of your wife. I subscribe because of her kindness and personality. I also love your food review.

I feel you with the tacos. I’m spoiled in SoCal with so many options for tacos from the traditional taquero to the fancy-shmancy fusion trucks.
I’m thinking of you guys as I wash down a birria taco with consommé and nurse a warm local beer.

Best time for tea at the Peninsula is after dinner, around 8, when you can also listen to a string quartet. 😘

I’m in CA, a great simple delicious taco is a must. We always go for the carne asada and El Pastor. Sometimes carnitas. My husband’s favorite, not sure if Chupacabra serves, is lengua or cabeza. Personally we like salsa verde with our tacos.

Nielson Tower, I remember one from the 80’s in Makati. Upscale resto even back then where they serve the balut in an eggcup. Not sure if it’s the same resto, it was a long time ago and I was young, in Manila. The squash blossoms look delish! And the scotch eggs🤤
Btw they serve Caesar salad with bagoong instead of Anchovies here at The SF Yacht Club. It’s crazy good😄

Hey, what’s up with sporadic farting sound? Lol.

Just curious --- does it have to be the best you've tasted to get a 10/10 rating? Some foods are not my favorites but I still give fair ratings when it comes to taste, flavor, texture (very impt for me) and inspiration behind it.

Haha these are good spots your brother took you to. I mean I would have gone to the same places if my time was limited and have only 1 day in Makati. Sorry, just discovered you guys so I'll just start to binge watch.

961 pesos for tacos is to pricey for me, calamansi juice 190 pesos common maybe 90 pesos.

I don’t like the dress code crap they do in some restaurants in the Philippines. That’s why they loose some foreign customer when they get to the door.

That's not how to eat Scones. I'm quite disappointed with you being a Chef and all.
