I'm glad you brought this one up, I learned this when I was 14 in middle school band, I was having a conversation with the new band director at the time, he was a drummer/percussionist, I played trumpet, so I asked him a few drum questions on a break one day, he took out his practice pad and this happened to be the same exercise you just displayed! I had forgotten about that moment until I watched this!! Thanks for bringing back a great memory from so long ago!!!

well spoken & demonstrated. May the force of natural movements be with you . And on this notion, a deep appreciation on the teachings of S.A. Moeller & J. Chapin. Cool video Stephen.👋

I have played drums for 45 yrs and hadn't heard of this until about a decade ago. After hearing about it on the internet, I set out to learn it. For years it just wouldn't click, my hands just didn't get it but I didn't give up. Then about 4 yrs ago I finally got past the block and it clicked. The motion fell into place and for the first time, I felt that nearly effortless stream of strokes and it felt GREAT! For the next several months I practiced my newly learned skill and more and more it became natural and more even. This skill changed my drumming measurably and helped me get enjoy some of the hand speed that I had felt impossible for me to achieve, and it was nearly effortless!

If you haven't learned this yet, take the time to start playing the strokes slowly and GRADUALLY build up speed. I concentrated on my hands feeling comfortable playing steady even strokes for months before I increased my speed. I found that to be a wise option as it made my playing much cleaner and more precise. This is definitely a game-changer for your drumming if you haven't already learned it. :-)

I already know this concept, but man, the way it's filmed and directed is just mindblowing! Amazing work! You managed to show all the power of Moeller technique with detailed explanation and all the exercises in just 4 minutes! You're the god of the art of making drum teaching videos, Stephen!

As a non-drummer, I love how something that sounds so simple is blowing the minds of all the drummers here. Simplicity in anything is pretty always best!

Aside from Bonham and every song I learned listening to was one of the COOLEST lessons in just minutes I've ever heard. I'm 48. Peace. Thank you.
