My band mates wanted to expand our catalog, so they told me to learn a dozen of Bonzos highest skilled songs by the end of the week. I told them “yea, ok. And you learn all of Pages riffs and solos by weekends end. Then move onto Randy Rhoades stuff”. 12 years later, and none of those songs were ever learned. There are ceilings that we all reach. Levels. Guitarists think the drums are so easy. They think that if you can add some unique fills to a Tom Petty song, that you can just go learn the most masterful techniques from the greatest drummers ever, overnight. There’s a reason we’re playing Eagles and Bob Seger songs for 200 people, and not original songs for 20, 000. That’s were our potential landed us. Someone has to play to the town drunks at the Paradise Pub in Monaca PA haha.
