Without doubt the very best recipe for bread pudding on YouTube. All of the other recipes, most from North American, fall way short of the mark and they are so confused between bread pudding and bread and butter pudding.

My Mum soaked bread or a few hours, squeezed out excess liquid then added a tub of mixed spice, suet, sugar and mixed fruit. No measuring and it was always so, so yummy. But, I’ll give this recipe a go. It looks so good and your portions were certainly generous.

My earliest memories is making this with my mum in the 1960 she’d save all the old bread then once a fortnight we’d make a huge roasting tin full 🥰🥰

My most favourite 'stodgy' pudding is Clootie Dumpling....I can't wait for Hallowe'en over here in Northern Ireland, the time when this pudding is boiled and eaten! DELISH! 🤗🤗🤗😋😋😋

I hail from East Anglia Suffolk. And my Mum would make this all the time to feed 8 hungry boys. Normally munching a slab as I walked to school.

I used to work at a victorian living museum in the bakery and we used to make bread pudding every be week with the leftover bread. This has made me feel nostalgic and want to make bread pud.

I’ve been looking for this recipe, haven’t made it since before my mum passed in 2000. It was a regular treat.

One of my grandmothers used to make a savory bread pudding. Basically, start with a bread dressing -- onions, celery, mushrooms, herbs like sage and winter savory -- put it in a pan, add an egg and milk custard mix, and bake. Oddly, this was often a breakfast item: Gran would let it sit in the refrigerator overnight and bake it in the morning, where we had it with fried ham and scrambled eggs.

The bread pudding I was brought up with is made with bread, saltanas, sugar, mixed spice, water. Soak bread in water till moist then mix all ingredients together .then put into a tin and cook for 1 hour.

Mmmm, this looks delicious! I haven't had bread pudding in probably 20 years (and loved it then!), so I'm definitely going to have to give this a go! Thanks!

I can't wait to try this one! I have read about things like this for decades, as I like a lot of UK authors. Imagine being in the US in the 1960s & 70s and reading a stodgy pudding and trying to understand what that is with no internet to help you! I've tried so many things that I know from reading but have never had the chance to try them until I found this channel. You have made many things that the name was familiar but I had no idea what it was exactly. Good job 👍

I love bread pudding. Thank you. Have you tried a marmalade glaze on either bread pudding or bread and butter pudding? I love it on both. I also when I cook sausages, I fry an onion add it to the sausages and put a couple of spoons of marmalade on the mix just before the end of cooking which gives the sausages a beautiful stickiness.
