Affordable Bender review

Not a bad machine. Depending on what you need this for it works excellent. If I wind up making more involved builds, I may need to upgrade to a bender capable of bending up to 180 degrees. Affordable Bender link below...looks like price is up to 389.00$$

A couple of comments for anyone who might run across this review. As someone noted below, the reason that he couldn't insert the tubing is that the die was not returned as far as it will go. I had to shorten the extension screw on top of the ram to allow mine to return far enough to insert the tubing. All tubing will need to be slightly over bent to allow for the elasticity of the tubing. Also, all tubing will have some spring back (different from elasticity). Spring back means a 7" center line radius die may produce a a 7 1/2" actual bend radius. Example : Wrap some wire tightly around a pencil. Let it go. The diameter increases slightly. That's spring back. The take up distance needs to be tested. The center line bend radius distance for a 90 degree bend must be known. Test bends will give you all of this. Also, mount the bender to your work table and save yourself some aggravation! Oh, get yourself a magnetic digital level that measures relative angles. You won't be sorry. This bender is good value for the money in my opinion.

Thanks for the video man! I've been thinking of a tube bender for a long time, and just have trouble dropping a grand on a JD2 with stand, die, and ram. This thing looks like a great starter bender, to get you into the game without a ton of money invested. Thanks for taking the time to review it!

Thank you for posting this video, I’m looking at buying a bender and this one will fit my needs after watching your video…..Those incomplete horrible welds are what they are! but I can fix them….. FYI it looks like someone stood back about 50 paces and shot those welds on using a slingshot and a can of JB weld!

The reason you can't load it Is because it's not returning to 0°. Put a spring to pull it to return to zero.

Thanks for clearing up my confusion about if the die works on pipe and dom or only dom. I knew the pipes differed in size but I had trouble figuring this out as the website wasn't real helpful.

Good demonstration but could have done without the "music". Nice start on a set of guns, keep up the good work and you'll get there. Thanks JD

Check that you're truly zero'd out. Adjust the jack, rotating like a screw until you zero out. Material should slide in

That bender is very average, the bend is way too wide for a rollcage bend.
AFAIK also most if not all governing bodies insist on 1 3/4 at least for main hoops on all sedan type cars.

What is up with the welding ? is this made in Taiwan or something ? I dont get American businesses selling something like that. I know an actual american made company for aluminum truck boxes that does that, I always think wtf, cant you see that ? and will make my own as soon as possibly can.

Reminds me of the tens of thousands of dollars I spent on race cars when I was young. Sometimes I look back and see how foolish I was pouring all my money in a car so I could go faster in a circle than the other guys, and sometimes I did.
It might have been stupid to spend all my money on a car that went fast, but it damn sure was a lot of fun. That was thirty years ago. Somethings are best done when your young, because you simply cant when you get old, and unless you die, you're going to get old. Its not that bad really, but getting old aint for pussies. Race car drivers bitch about it more than women.

So does the bend start at 0? Or does the bend start at the strap? Or end of the die? I'm trying to use bend tech software and it shows this to be a 9" clr but I'm not sure where to start.
