Legendary music, shows, and man. Sir Elton John is one of a kind, and a world treasure.

I can't help crying when I hear, "Your Song." It reminds me so much of my late husband, Tim, who loved Elton John and died of AIDS in 1995. of my feelings for him because as painful was his death for me, my life was so much more beautiful because we was in it, be it ever so brief, under 8 years.

Funny story. Well maybe not so funny but as a child I was placed in a orphanage at age 5. Even though I was wearing under pants with someone else's name stamped on the waistband, I had been able to keep a Elton John album of my own. It was the only thing I could truly call my own. That album together with a donated record player truly helped me stay sane. Don't underestimate the power of music.

I remember when Elton mentored one of the episodes of American Idol on the season Fantasia was competing and how blown away he was by her, and then here she was performing for him to honor his career. What an amazing journey for her.

Best concert I ever went to was when Elton John and Billy Joel toured together. I went for Billy Joel and he was amazing but Elton John is a master showman.

When the Savemart center Arena opened 20 years ago in my city Elton was the first concert to play. I bought 2 floor 3rd row from stage for my now ex husband and I. You could have knocked me over with a Feather. He played 3 hours. Midway through he began TINY DANCER. OMG...with tears running down my face I sang along. Mr.Downey, this was such a heartfelt tribute to Elton John. I’ve always loved Elton John, even when his songs didn’t mean anything to me…as my first cassette my mom bought me for Christmas 35 years ago was goodbye yellow brick road…and I learned true meanings if life through song…! This was a long awaited accolade to Mr. Elton John. Thanks for all your words that helped to teach me life’s meanings, as I grew up !
