She was still known as that weird, edgy monster chick back then but in the past five years she’s cemented herself as an icon and built a well respected persona through her Oscars performances and work with Tony Bennett and in A Star is Born.

That moment when she slows it down... the ringing chord, her voice... it's so heartfelt. Sublime. That's musical perfection, folks. You can see it drive into Sting's heart like some kind of painfully beautiful knife. Breathtaking. The expression on his face is exactly what I and a lot of other people felt, I think. Gaga is proof this generation has REAL talent, comparable with the best of any of our generations. I'm so glad. I think she's this generation's Elton John, and that's high fucking praise. And this is coming from a guy who mostly listens to extremely technical and complicated prog rock and metal. I really admire her. BRAVO!

We need to stop comparing Gaga to Madonna.  Madonna has talent, no doubt.  But most of her success was through her business and marketing strategy.  Gaga is a true artist with absolutely amazing talents along with some truly odd insights.  She definitely has "it."  The same "it" that people like Prince, John Lennon,  Brian Wilson and Kurt Cobain had.  An artistic brilliance that dances on the edge of insanity.
