People dont understand that the prices of things are never going back down. This inflation is deeper than we think. Those buying groceries are well aware that the real inflation is much over 10%. The increments dont match our income, yet certain investors still earn over $365, 000 in stocks and assets. Wish I could accomplish that.

I started my SS at 62 1/2, my wife who is 20 months younger than me started at 62. With my pension for working 25+ years we're doing just fine. That was over 3 years ago & we never looked back. Haven't touched our investments other than to travel. I had two brothers die of cancer 3 years apart. One died at 62 & never drew a dime of his SS. The other died at at 65 & drew 10 months. Let's be honest here, the reason the Government is offering you a bigger payday at 70 is because they're banking on you not making it!

Postponing SS to FRA or beyond is betting on the reaper not making you a surprise visit before then. Reality, people. How many friends and family you know who suddenly left this world before they got to enjoy ANY of their retirement investments or benefits? I'm retiring at 62 (two years away). Will take SS then and wife (same age) will likely do so as well. We'll have the mortgage gone by then, plenty of hard assets to sell as needed, a high six fig 401k, cash, silver, guns, precious metals (lead), etc. Playing the ACA marketplace until medicare age will be tricky, but we can handle it. NOBODY KNOWS the future of ANYTHING. Get what you can, asap.

I'd retiring or working less in 8 years, and considering this financial recession, Im deciding to begin taking up skilled trades. I'm curious to know best how people split their pay, how much of it goes into savings, spendings or investments, I earn around $120K per year but nothing to show for it yet.
