With respect to Alan’s wife’s wishes, it still makes me feel so warm-hearted knowing Alan wanted kids.

My dad didn’t want kids and resented me all throughout my childhood. It seems like so many dads either didn’t want kids, disappeared, or were abusive to them.

I’m glad family men like Alan are around.

Alan may not have had any biological children but I hope he knew he had a hand in positively shaping all the childhood Potter fans that grew up seeing him as Snape, finally learning Snape’s true intentions at the very end.

This may sound weird but my favorite Snape moment was when he actually expressed indignation concerning Dumbledor's final revelation of Potter's destiny. "Now you tell me you are raising him like a pig for slaughter..." As much as he hated Potter he still loved Lily enough to give everything to protect her son.
