Read the book, "One Second After". All about an EMP attack on the US and how a small town in North Carolina deals with the aftermath. The first chapter scared the shit out of me. I still don't understand why this book has not been made into an 8-12 part miniseries (a 2-hour movie would not do this book justice).

As someone in the electrical industry, we have safeguards. But if a sudden surge happens it will knock power out centrally in specific locations. The entire US grid is broken up regionally and has been upgrading from tech that’s at the end of its life cycle. I’m talking transformers that carry 100-200kV (100, 000-200, 000 volts). The wiring is what gets knocked out more so than the actual equipment. The equipment is designed to carry much higher surge loads than it’s engineered for this very reason. The phasing can also become unstable causing arc flash events and massive fires (Temps hotter than the surface of the sun). By the end of this decade we might be safe but with the way government operates I doubt it.

Popular mechanics showed the world how to destroy the world in every magazine. The good old days.

Over a year and no EMP. Bunch of fear mongering.

It’s actually pretty easy to cripple North America…the power grid in most places are connected…northeastern parts of America are all connected and even into parts of Canada and vice versa so just emp that and half the country would be in the dark…so modernization of the power grids nation wide is long over due same with the rail system for trains..that’s well over 100-150 years old in some parts so safety measures are low..hence why that disaster happened that made a town or city into a toxic place…

I dont think north Korea is that stupid. Once that happens north Korea becomes south korea, China said if NK starts, the Chinese wont get involved.

I hate to know what that would do to my pacemaker/defibrillator? Worst case scenario it explodes out my chest.
