"Using your business as a vehicle for change"

About this event
Kristina Crooks, Founder of Empowered Human, is hosting a conversation between BE Alink ( Founder of The Alinker) and Lorna Davis (former CEO of Danone North America) to discuss how entrepreneurs, businesses and C-level executives can use their business for social change and social impact.

We will also be fundraising to donate Alinkers to those in need! Let's meet their 15K goal!

About BE Alink:

BE Alink is a Dutch Restoration Architect, woodworker and inventor of The Alinker, a 3-wheeled walking bike that allows active people with mobility challenges to remain active. She was born and raised in the Netherlands and spent 10 years on community reconstruction in Kenya, The Sudan, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kosovo, and Afghanistan. In 2008 she immigrated to Canada.

BE is the founder and inventor of the Alinker walking bike, which she refers to as a vehicle of change. BE's reverse design practices / philosophy lead to the Alinker, which is not built for a "body-with-a-problem" but for who we are, active and engaged. She considers herself to be a gender weirdo, and has often been called crazy, all over the place, and scattered. People told her to focus, and to comply, but she doesn’t into any status quo. She has always held true to her vision that the world needs something else, for and by us all, no one excluded. BE focuses on who we are, not what we have. With insane tenacity, commitment and dedication, she has built her company into a movement of people showing up for each other. Years ago, she said: "I dream of a world where the dismissed people of today, are our leaders of tomorrow”.

The Alinker is a certified BCorp, a SheEO venture, carbon neutral, and practically plastic free. BE employs Alinker users (otherwise unemployed), pays everyone a living wage. The Alinker company is built to create access to health, by building access to mobility, community and healthy food.
