Causes of Thyroid Nodules

A nodule is an abnormal growth. It doesn’t mean it’s a cancer, affirms Dr. Robert Udelsman, Chief of Endocrine Surgery with Miami Cancer Institute.

In cases of thyroid, the specialist says most thyroid nodules are not a big deal and he explains it with a digital imaging, and adds 1 in 15 women in America have thyroid nodules. The majority of those nodules are benign and small and don’t cause any trouble at all.

Iodine deficiency, overgrowth of thyroid tissue, thyroid cyst, thyroiditis and multinodular goiter can cause a thyroid nodules, Dr. Udelsman explains.

That list of causes was poorly thought out. It’s primarily a list of differential diagnoses and has a lot of overlap. A cyst does not cause a nodule; it’s a differential diagnosis for a nodule. A multinodular goiter doesn’t cause nodules, either... part of its description is multiple nodules. That’s like saying a piano causes piano keys.

Iodine deficiency causes thyroiditis and overgrowth of thyroid tissue which is called a goiter and can lead to the development of thyroid nodules. I don’t see how it makes sense to deconstruct that sentence and use the nouns as a list of causes.

Seriously you have to see a functional medicine doctor to get rid of thyroid issues. These doctors don’t know what the hell they are doing when it comes to thyroid

I had a thyroid cyst and a doctor said it grew rapidly and better be removed immidietly in order for it not to grow even more. It was half of a half of the thyroid. I researched online that it's not a big deal, but I still went to get it removed cause I was depressed, wanted to try a surgery experience, was pressured by the doctor, was actually unsure in my future and maybe really paniced from what he said. All my analyses were normal, I didn't have any pain, it was not cancerous. It got removed... Now I have pain sometimes. I haven't checked it yet. But anyway I feel so devastated by my desicion. I think the surgery was unnecesary and will bring more bad than good. I think the nodule wouldn't cause any problem and maybe dissapear by itself. The doctor didn't even suggest to monitor it over time, just said to remove quickly. I'm not stupid, I was just in a bad stage. And now when I am getting out mentally, I face this physical damage I have done to myself and it makes me so sad. I just wanted to share it, but also to ask if thyroid can regrow and what risks are from having only 3/4 of the gland?

Thx a lot. My family member (aged 55) got 2cm thyroid nodule diagnosed. Heart beats normal & ECG normal. Doctor said not much to worry for now. So, we researched and made some hypothesis. One month later, it disappeared.

What we assumed and did

Leaky gut, autoimmune reaction. We did ABC.

A// Stopped gluten. Stopped oatmeal.

B// improved digestion, eg some ginger in meals

C// Gut health and healing. Bone broth, the good one. Probiotics eg Yakult, and G-Niib.

How do we get rid of them? They have to be caused by something. My nodules have been FNAed and biopsied. My doctor says they are nothing to worry about. However, they are causing high thyroglobulin levels. Something is wrong and it needs to be fixed. Naturally! Not with drugs!

Look up cbd oil(full spectrum).. I’ve been on mine for a few days and it’s shrinking... it was getting to big to breath normally

I had to stop taking the cbd oil bc i had a court case approaching that time.. it grow back to original size.. ive been talking a food base multivitamin for awhile… i started talking this liquid trace mineral call 40, 000 i drink during the night and it shrunk in half.. all most gone.. even my daughter notice.. also order thia selenium and vitamin e pills to alternate with the multivitamin.. lets see

what if you dont have hyper or hypo thyrodism but you have a growing goiter? and all biopsys have been benign?

I have multinodular goitre but my thyroid levels are fine. How to treat this goitre ? Don’t want surgery or invasive treatment. Alll I have is a tightness in my neck and a bump

I took iodine for a couple years then I started taking kelp. Nothing has changed. Thyroid levels are normal.

5cm nodule on the right side of my thyroid/neck just above collarbone.

Been having right ear pain and everything on my right side of ny head is clogged. Even have sinus issues. Trouble breathing, phlegm and trouble swallowing food. Liquids sometimes feel they are going down my airway. Ultra sound and xray did show it kinda pushing my trachea to the side. Bloodwork for thyroid was normal. Not sure what to do
