You made me feel 100% confident that I didn't make the wrong decision on my purchase of a lorobbees oa vaporizer this past fall! My gosh, the proof you're showing is mind-blowing. I dont have screened bottom boards.

Variables with Mites are hard to track down at times…. I have came to the conclusion to stay on a schedule and alternate my treatment types…. I treat all hives now so I try to stay ahead…. Mite bombs from surrounding hives are a serious concern…. I try to help my neighbors with control however that isn’t always successful…

Another great video. Thanks for these! Got my new InstaVap for Christmas so looking forward to using it for my final (hopefully) round of Dec/Jan OAV treatments.

I like the idea of leaving the original sheet in there so you can see how they have changed. I just got inside from videoing a similar video. Thanks for sharing!

I bet that most of the years they have a brood break in November. By solstice they already have 2 brood frames.. at least that's my experience with warm winters. But you should change something with your late summer -fall treatment. I'm used to those bottom boards, and that's a bit much varroa drop for this time of year. Good, if they were broodless

Hey Nathan, I know your angst when it comes to mite drop. Even after 4 rounds of OAV, initially the cleanup was successful. But this week after inspecting the bottom board there were 15 mites on the sticky Looks like as you, another 3 maybe even 4 rounds might be warranted. I am messing with dosage levels at present. I have considered using a higher dosage, at present for a double brood I am using 4 grams, 6 is looking good. I'm getting it on film today and posting to my channel. Hope all goes well with you.

Have you seen what the beeks are doing in NZ for at least four years now with OA extended release.

Given your climate I've often wondered about several light rounds of Apiguard.
Do you have a bottom board cleaning regiment?

I'm of the opinion any more that you just need to keep treating for mites. Wouldn't it be nice if OA could be made into some kind of chemical reaction tablet that you just place in a hive?

I live in SW Missouri and trying to determine the best time to treat the bees with OAV. When I first started to treat my bees, I treated in early/mid October. I have since gravitated to early/mid September (in the evenings to get most of bees in hive). My understanding is that the winter bees are being born in the August/September months. I figure that it makes sense to cleanse the mite load to keep my winter bees less infected. What do you think? Thank you for your videos!

I sent you a message the other day about formic acid treatment painted on drone brood. I may have put Jason on the intro.

Did you treat with two other mite treatments August through November ( e.g.. Apiguard, Apivar, Formic Pro) prior to you using OAV in late December when your hives should be near brood less into January?

U mite not like the number of mites on your boards it might seem high, but a dead mite is a good mite at least the oa worked. have a great day

Do you alternate kinds of treatments? Such as Apiguard then OAV at different times of the seasons?
