Should You Buy Halo: The Master Chief Collection in 2023?

I absolutely think MCC is the best package for mainstream gaming. It goes on sale fairly often too, so being able to purchase 6 games with multiplayer and mod support for... what, like 20 bucks? It's just incredible.
Of course, there's 343's track record, but I choose to believe they're turning over a new leaf with this.

I feel my answer depends on what you want from this. If you're only in it for single-player, then yes absolutely buy this. Buy this yesterday.

On the Multiplayer side, I find this game lacking badly. I don't feel the playerbase is there. Steam users shows about 3.5k players average for every 24 hours, so the real numbers are probably somewhere between 5k-6k players playing. Far from dead for sure, but you can feel those numbers. I have a hard time finding matches in certain game modes or games. When I do find matches, I'm paired with the same group of people over and over again, and it tends to keep the previous teams. So if you're on a bad team, chances are you're stuck on that team until you refresh your search. Last night my team got seven steaktaculars in a row. We had a guy constantly racking up 25+ kills every match, and the opposing players' best was a solid 5 each game. That's not a fun experience, regardless if you're winning.

The fact they still update the game and it has tons of unlocks and enough to keep you busy and the games are timeless classics, the answer is yes because even after you beat every game on there you will still have a lot more to do.

Easily the best collection in gaming. You are looking at hundreds of hours of content in campaign, multiplayer, custom games, forge or firefight.

Never been an xbox user except for a few months owning the xbox 360 but I never knew halo was a thing, I only played GTA on xbox but now with the xbox series x... Microsoft's game pass is incredible. I couldn't not believe how easily I could play the Gears games and the Halo games with multiplayer support as well.

I can really see why Halo is such a beloved franchise and I just wish I had played it when it first came out.

Having multiplayer for each game on top of the campaign is an amazing deal.

I absolutely agree 100%, modding support and high framerate support on pc is honestly the best experience, alot of people still complain about issues and bugs, but i mean any game ever has problems, besides the original games were built with spaghetti code, so thank bungie for that, i never even imagined back in the day, that halo 3 or even all the halo games would be on pc with mod support.

Ironically, MCC multiplayer is more difficult than Halo Infinite despite the lazer mouse advantage. Veterans are so good that you simply cannot even kill them.
