Seems like a neat idea - but in execution it means spending something like $150 in filament (minimum) per storage container, plus however many hours it takes to print.

4:16 "the nuts slide right into the little slot's openings and make it really easy to screw those in place" That's how you convince guys to join your frat house.

This looks like an insane filament grave. I prefer solutions where you combine stiff, slim and light standard components with the power of 3d printing instead of trying to do stuff with the 3d printer, where its not the best choice to begin with. That said, if someone wants to have it, go for it.

I get the mini storage... And yes! You 'can' 3D print anything...
But the cost of the files.... Cost of filiment.. Cost of printing and the time.... Would it not be a lot cheaper and more effecient just to buy a bookcase?
I personally would never buy this! But.... Make me some acrylic doors designed to work with a 'Billy bookcase' and I'd buy that in a heartbeat! :)

Seems like a great cabinet that I can get from ikea for a fraction of what you’d spend on filament. 😂

Ya know, I'm all for 3d printed solutions, its why I follow channels like this but lol not everything needs to be 3d printed.

Sometimes we like 3d printing so much we don't even realise how unpractical and wasteful some things are

This is a cool idea and really is just for enthusiasts. The biggest concern I have is that PLA will start drooping over time so the center rack will bow in the center over time.

What was cost in plastic and how many hours ?

how long was overall print time and how many printers were you running at a time?

How much filament did this take? I know because it's modular there's going to be no set number, but an estimate for the standard version would be nice.

DIY isn't always about saving money, because you'll often spend more making something than you would buying it. Sometimes, the point is having something that's customized to your exact space or desired appearance. An IKEA Kallax probably won't fit the recessed space in a wall perfectly, so a carpenter would build a cabinet to do that and it would cost quite a bit more than going to IKEA. This solution isn't for everyone, though. Some people are fine with a cabinet that looks too small for the space and will just add some decorative touches to fill that space out.

how much would a cabinet like that cost?
I understand its strength might be its custimizability, but it doesn't seem to offer anything different from a standard cheap cabinet. plus you still need to buy acrylic or glass or plexigalls panels for the doors.
I could buy a cheap one and the create panels or customize it with 3D printing.
it also seems a bit clunky and a big waste of space with such thick shelves and parts.
maybe this solution offers something I can't see, I'd really like to know

Hi Uncle Jessy, how large are the shelfs that you are using in the video?

I backed the Kickstarter and cant wait to get my files. Can you tell me if all the parts can be printed on a Bambu Labs A1-Mini?

Another thing I've come to realize is flat boxes will want to split layers or have visual defects where the layer time decreases (walls) and printing on a 45 decreases the odds of that happening by keeping layer times more consistent.

@Unclejessy Can you share how much kg of filament you have to used for completing the tower?
