This is the story of how I rescued a 1993 Rover 220 Coupe - or Tomcat - from yard find to resto mod .It was saved from the Scrappage Scheme by not having an MOT and wears that sticker with pride!

Tomcat stickers, mugs, phone cases, clothes, notebooks, coasters, so much Coupe stuff!

It is so refreshing to see people like you making videos of buying and paying little money for a car, spent some money to get the car to a decent standard, made some mods to make you want to drive it and now enjoy driving and having fun in it. Well done!

Great video! I had one of these in dark grey but with the K series 1.8VVCi engine. It really shifted (0-60 in 7.8sec) but of course suffered from the inevitable head gasket failure! Mine was a ‘98 so it had a slightly face lifted interior. The half leather seats were the most comfortable seats of any car I have owned. One of best looking cars on the road at the time. Happy motoring!

You may know that this T bar roof is little bit sensitive to settle. Pretty lovely but honestly I did not open so much. But still love this kind of very exciting roof. For me the Honda crx delsol was very shocking in those decades, but now we have any kind of very easy automatic open air models like Micra cc and so on. Might be too early to buy one.

Never driven the nasp. Only the 2.0ltr t series turbo and 1.8 vvc k series variant. Gorgeous cars and great fun to drive when looked after. I miss mine and would have another in a heartbeat if I had spare cash.

Had 2 in the mid 90's
Had an ex demo polynesian blue which was turquoise colour.... 1st half of the registration plate was K220... as in rover 220 :)
Loved that car.. then I had the metallic purple one as a company car.... can't remember the actual name of the colour.
Loved my 1st one!

Had a R reg 1997 Red 1.6, wish I had kept it now, becoming a rare sight on the roads. Had mine upto 2010, 82K when I sold it. Shame cant link photos here.

I went to test drive a 1 owner, 38, 000 mile Rover 220 GSI 3 door (not coupe) the other day. Great, other than some rot at the bottom of the arches where they meet the sills. I have a Mk1 200 as well, although I am wondering what do whether to purchase this Mk2, they are as you say looking better now with age.

When is a car not a car? I.e how many parts can you replace before it stops being 'your old car'
