That’s why I’m hesitant to try and job hop rn. Got my job right out of college in 2019 and been getting raises, enjoy my work, etc. job hopping is way sketchier these days, especially with layoffs happening whenever a ceo wants a payout

I was planning to major in CS for a while now, and I've always been into programming. Recently as I'm getting ready to apply for colleges, suddenly EVERYBODY wants computer science and people with insane transcripts were getting deferred. My plan is to get in with Applied Mathematics and switch into CS, but seeing all this stuff about how bad the tech industry is and how hellish it is to find a job makes me wonder if I even want to switch into CS.

I think it’s a couple different things. The tech companies thought the gravy train was going to keep on going from the pandemic and had to layoff a lot of workers after the fact. The other is that more and more people seem to be interested in the kind of work and saturating the pool. I don’t think it’s really too bad because I know a few people hired recently before they even finished their degree in cs or se

Too many layoffs and too many people want to work in tech. Lesson learned. Stop spreading news about how good the tech market is because it's really bad. It's not growing.
