Alonso's 2012 season is one of the greatest from a driver despite not winning. To challenge for the title, put in flawless drives race after race with a car that started the season 1.5 secs off pace or slower and was 3rd fastest all year is nothing short of amazing.

Ross Brawn said this about Fernando before the 2012 British GP: "He's simply one of the all-time greats. He wins races he shouldn't win, races he's got no right to win. And thats the mark of a great driver. He's not had a great car this year but he's on top of the championship. He managed to get there because of what he is, the driver he is."

Fernando 2012 season was the best individual performance by a driver in modern F1 era. No debate needed.

Ah these good old Times, with the old engines, Vettel was in his prime, Hamilton didn't win every race and it was more exciting!!!

I miss this old seasons, when I was a little child and watching F1 with my dad!!!

Ladies and gentleman The best Season of the decade, 24 drivers, 6 of them Champions, Last race in Brazil with a legend race, V8 engines, Maldonado win, Alonso with Ferrari, Vettel with Redbull and obviously Michael Schumacher
I know that you are going to say that maybe the 2010 season was the best of the decade but i started watching Formula 1 in 2012 and all i can say that this was the best and i miss it so much ;)

One of the best season of the last 20 years, probably top 3 at least. I think we can all agree with that

Important message: Alonso had three wins this season.

1. Malaysia was in the wet

2. In Valencia Vettel was a lot faster but had a DNF and Alonso made numerous fantastic overtakes.

3. Hockenheim his pole was also in the wet

So basically he almost won the Championship without having a winning car in dry conditions for one single weekend! 😅

If only the recent seasons were that exciting... That title fight was incredible and just thinking about it makes by heart rate go up. Great vids Paul! Keep up the good work!

I will contest that the V8 era was the golden age of F1 in terms of the total package: racing, parity, star power and engines. Some of those individual things might have been better earlier or later, but never before and never since were all of those elements so spot on as during that era. 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2012 are all all time classic seasons

The most unortudox, beatiful, impressive and nostalgic season in the history. We were happy and didn't know men...
