Beto O'Rourke confronts Texas Governor Abbott at Uvalde school shooting press conference

Texas Governor Greg Abbott speaks in a press conference after 19 children and two adults were killed in a school shooting in Texas. The attack took place in the town of Uvalde near the Mexican border at an elementary school. The 18-year-old shooter barricaded himself in a classroom where he was killed by police.

The tragedy once again raises the question for many US citizens-- what can be done to stop gun violence?

And another thing -- I think Dan Patrick's reaction was uncalled for in regards to Beto O'Rourke's confrontation. Between political opponents, one can indeed embrace their emotions and culture, but to accuse a man of turning a tragedy to political advantage and to order his removal from the building instead of hearing him out and addressing the issues he raises like a political leader should, that says to me that he was afraid to listen to this man. He outright accused O'Rourke of seeking political advantage in tragedy and catastrophe, repeatedly told him he was out of line (I kept hearing "out of order"), refused to listen to him, told him he was sick, the profanity notwithstanding (hey, this is Texas, whatcha gonna do?), and ordered his removal from the auditorium.

Dyed-in-the-wool hyperpartisans simply cannot tolerate dissenting opinions.

Yes Governor Abbott, you can announce the danger of quick and easy acquisition by an 18 year old and blame it on his mental deficiency. But, you Governor, vouch and in favor of guns. Time to change you, Governor, otherwise change your pro-gun advocacy.

Every effing time, that's the first part of holding the line against doing anything The Lt Gov. was right in time for spewing that BS. If guns saved lives, America would be the safest country in the world. The NRA can safely send this man his cheque.
