"This ain't the place".
It's never the place. That's the problem.

Many other countries have figured it out. American gun culture is the problem.

"We need to offer hope to the families of the victims." How will you do that?? How will your actions reflect your words? Offering words of hope is hollow and cruel if you never intend to do anything!

When you're a politician, everything is political.

"Every Texan. Every American, has a responsibility." Except for the elected officials, right?

Beto: This is totally predictable.
Abbott: You're out of line!
Also Abbott, predictably: At this time we'd like to offer the customary thoughts and prayers.

Congress passed a gun background-check bill that has been sitting in the senate for two years because the Republican Senators will not bring it to the floor

Weird how a stage full of politicians was no place for politics. Disrupt them every time they are speaking. Remind them children are dying because of their policies. Don't let these monsters rest.
Edit: Apparently, to these Republicans, it's too soon to talk about the latest mass shooting. Too late to talk about the one before... from the previous day.

Don’t make this a political matter, let’s just pretend like always that we are really sorry, and political decisions don’t make a difference.
America is completely lost

So, let me get this straight. A group of Republican elected officials (yes the partisan Sheriff is elected) holding a televised and public press conference, making statements about a matter of public concern is not political. But somehow a citizen speaking the truth and trying to ask questions of them at their press conference is “Political”.

“This ain’t the place! It’s never the place! We don’t talk about this ever!” We are so effed.

"GOP, guns over people." Wow, that is actually the first time I had heard that one. It fits.

I love the way that deputy just stood in front of Beto and allowed him to voice his opinion and then politely ushered him out without being a bully. Kudos to that deputy 👍

Heeling and hope? How about getting these guns out of the hands of these lunatics, huh? How about that, instead of "thoughts and prayers?"

Thank you Beto for calling them out for who they really are

Shouting profanity at Beto does not make you a tough guy, all of you up there should sit down and resign!

Yup, don’t want to address the real problem. All they want to do is give their thoughts and prayers to the victims. They don’t need more of your fake narratives. What they need is for this to stop.

No free speech in GQP America.
But protect those GD guns.

I'd rather have Beto O'Rourke fighting in my corner any day of the week, rather than that snivelling weasel, Abbot.
