How Many ETFs and Stocks To Buy? Beginners Allocation Tutorial

These are the 7 ways I would allocate my portfolio.

If you want to keep it simple, you can consider investing in ETFs that help you diversify across the broad stock markets.

If you don't mind the volatility and like to do your own due diligence, you can also sprinkle in some individual stocks. However, I would stick to companies in the S&P500 and DOW30.

If you are more advanced, you can consider selling some options to generate some income.

I personally would NOT use margin right now, just because interest rates are high. But I know that some of you who are more advanced traders like to use margin. Please make sure to use margin AFTER you fully understand the risks.

In the end, see what you're most comfortable with as this video is to give some guidelines/options on how you can allocate your portfolio. :)

Hope this helps!

In the bigginer stage how much weightage each should better have among 90% for VOO, QQQ, SCHD?

Good presentation! Points well made. Beginners typically spread themselves too thin, and should buy just a few securities, collect dividends, and accumulate cash.

Do you count your emergency fund as the cash allocation, or is that a separate $ amount designated for investing?

As a suggestion as a teacher, I know you’re interested in teaching people. If perhaps you used layman’s language when describing trading and allocations or defining, the terms, it would be greatly appreciated. Pretend you’re teaching this to a five-year-old. How would you teach this what words would you choose to use, what terms would you use? How would you describe the definition of those terms.

Great video! Love your content. Was wondering if stocks in retirement accounts can be optioned (is that even a word?). Would you allocate any into US treasuries, bonds, or long term CDs for older investors, or always 100% in stocks/ETFs (& 10% cash) regardless of time til retirement?

Short term government bonds are also good instead of cash for a bear market.
