Should Pluto Be A Planet Again?

Through the early 90s, Pluto was considered a planet. But everything changed after scientists discovered new worlds nearby that looked and behaved like Pluto, but unlike every other planet in our solar system. This caused astronomers to redefine what makes a planet a planet, and reclassify Pluto as a dwarf planet.

At first you called pluto a planet. Pluto didn't say anything.

Then you demoted it as dwarf planet. Pluto still didn't say anything.

Now you want it to be a planet again. Pluto still isn't saying anything.

Pluto doesn't give a f. Be like pluto💝

IAU 2006: Pluto is no longer a planet.

2019: Maybe it might be a planet.
Pluto: You couldn't live with your own failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me.

I grew up with Pluto as a member of the 9 planetary system so Pluto is still included in my book.

There are a lot more issues with the 'definition.' Things well beyond emotional nonsense. Namely, no object in the entire universe is defined by external factors. Your house is no less a house because of the number of cars you have parked outside. A pencil is not a pen because it was placed in a pen box. Your coffee doesn't become something else because it is in a bottle instead of a mug. A definition of an object based upon external factors unrelated to itself is redefining language and logic. A planet is simply an object defined by it's orbit and gravity. If the object is large enough to have uniform active processes from differentiation due to gravitational seperation, aka it's round because of gravity and orbits the right object directly, it's a "Planet." Yes this means your dumb kid might not be able to learn all the planets in school, but we're not going to dumb down reality as a result.

Secondly, anyone that must use the name of the very thing they are trying to claim the thing is not, is a little short of a full deck of cards. "Dwarf Planet" is a valid subcategory, in the same vain as terrestrial planet, gas giant, and ice giant. The later two, "Ice and Gas Giants" are not even scientifically derived. Those were scientifically adopted terms taken from science fiction.
The definition of "planet" is faulty. I honestly couldn't care less about Pluto by itself. It's truely a shame that we live in the golden age of astronomy, in an age when several new and unique Solar Worlds have been discovered, but these awesome discoveries have little to no public interest because of a poorly thought out and managed debacle like this. In the long term people will come to appreciate all of the unique objects orbiting the Sun. They will wonder what it must have been like to live in our present reality, when all of these amazing discoveries were happening. These things only happen once in all of human history after all. I wish they could reach through time and relate just how stupid it is for the present world culture to neglect these discoveries, and what a crime it is for the institutions and leaders of the field to create such a needless and misaligned distraction that has totally sidelined any public enthusiasm for new discoveries beyond the limits of those made by generations long past.
Planets are not unique to the star we orbit. A definition that requires a separate entry for the majority of known Worlds is totally inexcusable. By definition, no exoplanet is a planet because these Worlds have orbits that are undetermined in relation to external objects.
If there is one consolation, it's that history will remember this embarrassing debacle and define those involved based upon it. In the long term this disgrace will have quite a few pages on the historical record. It will define those involved.

Saying Pluto isn't a planet. Is a lot like saying Verne Troyer isn't a human. Scientist hate Verne Troyer.

The "no other large objects are nearby" criterion is an ad hoc rationalization fallacy as it's not part of the IAU's planet definition from their resolution 5A. And as Neptune, Jupiter, Mars and Earth also don't meet the "clearing the neighborhood" criterion, there are only 4 planets in our solar system according to the stupid IAU definition.
