It’s only been a couple of months since the last refresh of Apple’s MacBook Pro’s, but today we have a brand new entry level 13” model. This Macbook Pro is the first entry level 13-inch model to feature a Touch Bar, Touch ID, AAAND its even got an upgraded 1.4GHz quad-core 8th-generation Intel Core i5 processor. Has anything else changed below this space grey case? There’s only one way to find out and that’s to tear it down.

For this teardown we used
1 × P5 Pentalobe Screwdriver Retina MacBook Pro and Air
1 × Small suction cup
1 × iFixit Opening Picks set of 6
1 × Tweezers
1 × T3 Torx Screwdriver
1 × T5 Torx Screwdriver
1 × Spudger

You can find everything we used in our Pro Tech Toolkit

Apple "We want to help the environment"
*Makes no parts upgradable and glues down the battery*

Thank you iFixit for teardown video. I like to see what inside all the devices.

The 2015 macbook pro lived for so long because most of the components were replaceable.

Apple is arrogant. Clearly no one uses the touch bar. Just get rid of it and put in a 256gb ssd instead.

I'm just about saving money to get this laptop in the end of this year. But I didn't know that SSD is irreplaceable until I saw this video, damn it Apple!

They didn’t mention or do anything about removing the screen, the keyboard, or the trackpad. Come on now.

you guys should do legacy teardowns, where you dissamble older products before like 2005

Thanks for reminding me why I will never buy one!

Still don't understand why you keep giving machines a - for having proprietary screws, by now everyone who wants to work on these models should have those screwdrivers...

Soldered storage and RAM, pentalobe screws and you still give it a 2? smh

I think we can add the SSD on the board.you can see the bedplate on the motherboard.

I still use my mid-2012 MBP and have one trick remaining up my sleeve - to upgrade the HD to an SSD. After that, I'll be crying. I don't want the trouble of a hackintosh and I resent having to spend so much coin on a sub-par macbook pro.

Why are people still buying these overpriced money pits....

No laptop should be this hard to get into, or this hard to upgrade. Seriously, a soldered SSD? Who does that? Just really sad. I own a 2014 MBP, and will never buy another that’s built this way.

We can't change SSD now ....
Hmm...

"the more useful F keys" yep, and the more useful magsafe and usb 3.1 and chicklette keyboard...I like these kind of reviews that show all the great things they decided to ditch for no practical or functional reason. While I sit here with my unibody wondering what I can upgrade to when I eventually have to.
