QUICK TIP: Fixing a small cut or hole in your drip line only takes requires some simple electrical tape. If you didn't already know electrical tape will still hold tight even while wet. Making it the perfect solution to a quick irrigation line fix. Although not 100% permanent, electrical tape will fix most irrigation leaks for a very long time. If you want a permanent solution, then you will need a coupler for your corresponding drip line.

Thanks! I didn't want to go and hunt down plugs. Glad to see someone finding a fix without breaking the bank.

Hey bro. I watch most of your videos all the way from South Africa (I'm in an urban environment and cannot afford to lease land yet ironically haha) but I just wanted to tell you you are legendary to me. I really aspire to be an independent farmer soon and the fact that you do what you do on a rented back yard is inspirational. Staying tuned...

There is an extreme drought in North Texas right now so the rodents have, for the time ever, started biting the drip tape to get water. I read the comments here and decided not to do this… then after getting more desperate, I decided why not? I have a roll or two of electrical tape.

It worked so well. Where the line was spraying 4 ft in the air, it is now either fully stopped or is just dripping. Going to save a lot of water and money as I try to trap the rodent or finally get rain or get around to buying new drip tape.

Thanks for the video! Not sure why you got all the negative comments? Maybe different drip lines or different PSI or whatever.

I've wrapped two and three rolls around small leaks in my drip line. Inevitably, no matter how much electrical tape I use and how tight I wrap it, the water finds it's way out and it continues to leak. My wife told me I had more money tied up in electrical tape than the rest of the system combined. It's just a bandaid, literally. It doesn't last. Save yourself the heartache and cut out the bad piece of hose. Replace it using a couple of compression joints. Problem solved.

Anyone reading this in the future: There are different types of electric tape!
Some electric tape will stretch and stick WAY MORE than others! You have been informed!
There are even some you can stretch a good bit and get super tight fittings.
And then there are some that will literally fall apart just from existing.

Or just get 1 coupling, cut the drip line in half, and put both sides together. Permanent fix and cost less than $5. No need to cut corners.

Is it possible to remove a barbed connector from the main? Thinking I would put an emitter in instead.

Pressure relief, I just decided to plant something there and it’ll get watered!

Tried on full pressure line, sprayed everywhere. Usless. From the comments below, it does not look like this works.

Any tips for preventing drip lines from noodling around in the heat? Or is the only solution to staple the crap out of it or mulch?

I love your videos and I have been watching for a while. :) I was wondering if you have any experience or tips on growing watermelons. I realize they probably aren’t something you grow commercially because they take a lot of space.

This totally doesn’t work. I have been trying it over and over again and it doesn’t matter how much of that tape you use. The pressure from the water will just bring right through it.

AH, evil personified. What if she created a hoax filled with malious lies to destroy you or someone you know? Don't be like Amber.

Sounded good until the line is still dripping after the tape. Oh Well.

THIS IS SO IMPRESSIVE TO PEOPLE BORN YESTERDAY. Is this a spoof? That thing will not last a month. cut and use compression coupler as suggested below and FIX the problem. Too many holes to fix an old line, use tiny spec of Gorilla glue and masking tape or trash line.

"partially blocked an emitter but still a little bit of a leak" in other words, the broken line is not fixed. If you really want to fix a small crack/split, cut the line in half and use an inline splice. If it's less than 1/2" you don't even need to cut out the crack as the entire crack will be inside the splice. Electrical tape gets soft and gummy and shrinks if in the sun or heat. If you use that where I live, the fix will be days at best.
