What’s Really Changed—and What Hasn’t—About Getting Humans to the Moon
“NASA’s Orion will combine vintage tech with massive advances in computing power and electronics we’ve made since 1972.”

NASA’s Lunar Outpost will Extend Human Presence in Deep Space
“As NASA sets its sights on returning to the Moon, and preparing for Mars, the agency is developing new opportunities in lunar orbit to provide the foundation for human exploration deeper into the solar system.”

NASA’s First Flight With Crew Important Step on Long-term Return to the Moon, Missions to Mars
“Astronauts on their first flight aboard NASA’s Orion spacecraft will travel farther into the solar system than humanity has ever traveled before. Their mission will be to confirm all of the spacecraft’s systems operate as designed in the actual environment of deep space with crew aboard.”

The path to the moon traced a dangerous line of risk and reward. In a race against time, the Apollo Program challenged our scientific capabilities and redefined the boundaries of humanity. To celebrate NASA’s 60 years of exploration, Seeker is going back in time to relive each Apollo mission, taking viewers on a ride to an entirely new world.

Seeker explains every aspect of our world through a lens of science, inspiring a new generation of curious minds who want to know how today’s discoveries in science, math, engineering and technology are impacting our lives and shaping our future. Our stories parse meaning from the noise in a world of rapidly changing information.

I wasn't on Earth from 1969 to 72, hopefully I will see *humans settling down on the Moon and Mars*

When NASA finally arrives on the moon, Elon Musk already has set up a mars colony

I'm 50, and I can't help but feel they wasted all that time and resource and did little with it, had they stayed on track we would have had a sizeable colony and orbiting station round the Moon by now. I'm sure there are just as many people as NASA that are equally frustrated but at least, for now anyway, they're looking in the right direction.
The Moon has always been the gateway to Mars and beyond

Tip on mission design: don’t use elephants as astronauts (saves on weight limits).

I'm still really pissed off about what happened to the Constellation program. Engineers put _years_ of work into that project to try and make it fly on an already shoestring budget, and as soon as a new administration came in the whole idea got pitched as a scapegoat. Fast forward 7 years and look at where we are. We still rely on the Russians for marked up flights to the ISS on an ancient launch system. NASA still working on a rocket with dated hardware, a ballooning budget, and time span so extended that it feels like a satirical repeat of Constellation's fate. And it's gotten so bad that NASA's legendary manned flight program is actually falling behind to private startups that only began a couple years ago. It's a damn _disgrace_, and I believe that America's space program deserves far better than the hand it has been dealt today.

Wasn't it found that the SLS program is incredibly over-budget and behind schedule because Boeing is incompetent.

I hope they'll do a live stream from the lunar surface

Why do they overuse the word "Evolve"!?!?! She stated the rocket evolved at least 3 times, within a short span of time. Do they not know other words that are more appropriate!?! Is there vocabulary so limited in scope? "The rocket was 'redesigned', 'adapted', 'altered', 'reconfigured'" and many other more appropriate and "more accurate" words are available. It didn't "Evolve". It didn't turn into or become something different. It's still the same thing, just better.

NASA: We will have crewed missions go around the moon in early 2020 and have humans on Mars in the 2030s

It’s hard to understand y they never went back to the moon after more then 50 yrs and y they decided to spend 100 billion on the space station instead of spending that money and building a moon base?

SLS and Orion are a massive waste of money. Time to cancel these stupid boondoggles before it's too late. Give the money to private launch providers instead. They have shown they want to advance society rather than milk unlike the defense contractors.

I think this is wishful thinking. It will never happen again because there is no real inclination. Unless it has a military incentive, like last time, all of this is a dream. Competition breeds progress. Not living in the clouds.

What should Seeker explore next? I would love to see a series on unknown / odd scientists or concepts that has changed something important. Something that most people don't know about.

Hopefully they will be going to moon for real this time.
