Inside NASA's plan to return to the moon

Fifty years ago this month, the crew of Apollo 8 became the first humans to orbit the moon. Just seven months and three Apollo missions later, Americans would walk on the lunar surface. Now, Nasa has announced a plan to return to the moon and establish a permanent presence there by harnessing the power of private enterprise. On Thursday, the agency issued a list of nine U.S. companies now eligible to bid on contracts that will enable the effort. Time magazine’s editor-at-large Jeffrey Kluger joins “CBS This Morning: Saturday” to discuss the project and this week’s NASA landing of a probe on Mars.

Delivered by Norah O’Donnell and Gayle King, "CBS This Morning" offers a thoughtful, substantive and insightful source of news and information to a daily audience of 3 million viewers. The Emmy Award-winning broadcast presents a mix of daily news, coverage of developing stories of national and global significance, and interviews with leading figures in politics, business and entertainment. The only thing Nasa has sent to space is your imagination.

I fully support setting up a moon base and am glad there are people like Jeffery Kluger to keep this dream alive.
Exploration has been a key piece of our history, and it’s time we make it a reality
by going beyond the space station by colonizing the Moon and beyond.

Lol. They better brush up on their CGI skills. I can't believe people take these clowns seriously. They're not going anywhere. Outta here with that nonsense.

Regolith - the mostly silicate dust on the surface of the moon and Mercury - could be turned into glass or a quartz like building material. It could hold a pressurized atmosphere while allowing light to pass through.

Remove the dust and the ice melts the frozen prison. Sad thing is alot of plants that depend on the moons light to trigger biochemical reactions and sea baring creatures for tides might not make it. Good thing is thats the way life was back then, maybe there is a way do it without disturbing the moon itself.
