**** EXPAND FOR MORE INFO ****

- Fortify Restoration Ingredients: Abecean Longfin, Cryodilic Spadetail, Salt Pile, Small Antlers
- Fortify Enchanting Ingredients: Blue Butterfly Wing, Hagraven Claw, Snowberries, Spriggan Sap.
- Fortify Smithing Ingredients: Blisterwort, Glowing Mushroom, Sabre Cat Tooth, Spriggan Sap

If you are having problems repeating this process, your Alchemy skill might be too low or are you trying this without wearing any gear that has the "Fortify Alchemy" effect on it. If you start this loop without a strong modifier to alchemy, it can take hundreds of potions before you will see any increase.

The lower the skill / modifier - the more potions you will need. With 100 skill and 29% modifiers, it only took me 5 or 6 potions. With less skill or less modifiers, you can expect to need at least 20 potions - so stock up those ingredients first.

I pieced together how to do this glitch from information in the following thread, combined with several hours of testing and experimenting:

you can also find a decent stock of the restoration ingredients in the barrels around riften, since most of the ones on the dock levels are fishing barrels they also come with salt piles.

Confirmed on PS3 to still be working as of 9/16/2013.
Alchemy was 51, 3 perks in first talent, 1 perk in benefactor/physician.
Enchanting was maxed, Smithing maxed.
Items used: Fine hat, Silver Necklace, Silver Ring, Gloves.
Enchantment: Majicka + Alchemy (dual chant 100 perk).
Gems: Hat/Neck/Ring (Grand), Gloves (Greater)
Took about 3-4 loops for the absurdity of effects to take place.
By about 800million% on resto potions, each Fortify Smithing/Enchanting potion = 15 to 89 alch immediately.

Doing this should get your enchanting up to a semi-decent level for the alchemy chant on 4 pieces of gear. Also gets you a decent chunk of gold for buying the alchemy or whatever items you want from a vendor (stam, carry weight, health, majicka, robes with school+regen, one hand, block, soul trap, etc...).

For those wondering about the enchanting part, my advice is to loop until satisfied, craft Ench/Smith potions, let resto loop wear off, drink the potion at the Ench Table / Forge, craft/chant

Great trick. Also, this is just an amazing video to listen to with the headphones in.

Im surprised no one has replied to this in 5 months. The Restoration school covers Alchemy, doing the loop until your stats are at insane levels and then creating an Enchanters potion will yield an Enchanting potion at insane levels. Drink said potion before enchanting something, and this will boost your enchanting skills to insane levels. Which then of course allows you to enchant something to an insane level. You basically create God Armor this way.

That about covers most of the simple mistakes.
Enchanting / Smithing steps:
1: Prepare for this. Have excess crap out of your inventory. Have necessary items in your inventory (gems/ingots, recipes for enchants, the pieces to upgrade, the pieces you'll use as a test that will jump your smith/chant to 100, etc...) Make sure you're using a table / smithing area that you won't get interrupted. If you're that concerned about maxing, have your enchanted gear equipped for what you're doing.

Good lord. I'm almost sorry I've watched this video & learned of this glitch, it's gonna be too tough to resist doing it now.

Loop Steps:
1: Activate Alchemy Table.
2: Unless you've crafted the potion before, go to ingredients, select the proper fish, and a salt pile. Otherwise go to the restoration recipe.
3: Craft the potion.
4: Exit Alchemy (Yes to confirm).
5: Menu - Items - Potions. Drink the potion you just made.
6: Menu - Items - Apparel. Unequip, and reequip each item (I did this one at a time with success).
7: Repeat steps 2 - 6 until desired effect is reached, then go to 8.
8: Make 1 pot per item to improve.

Are you following the loop correctly?
If the video wasn't clear enough, or you're not a great visual learner, here's the steps:
Preparation -
1.) Check your perks (Alchemy / Enchanting)
2.) Enchant 4 pieces (Hands/Ring/Necklace/Head)
3.) Equip the 4 pieces, and put all the extra crap in storage. Clean inventory means less time searching, more time looping.
4.) Check your ingredients. Remember, you want enough of not only the restoration potion ingredients, but Ench/Smith as well.

6: Exit, wait for potion to wear off.
7: Repeat steps 2 - 6 until desired items are improved.

Further questions:
"I'm on blah.blah.blah patch, does it work?"
I'm on the PS3, patch 1.9.31.whatever, the current date is 9/16/2013 at 6:10PM (18:10, Mountain Time, -8GMT?), and I'm completely up to date on all patches / DLCs. If you fall into this category, then yes. It works.

One of the 8900+% smithing potions maxed speechcraft from 71.
Note: The Enchanting / Smithing potions don't last long. If you have almost every enchant in the game available, it may take a while to pick the two enchants you want from the huge damn list.

Tips: If you're just starting out, it isn't a bad idea to try and get a banish item and disenchant it, then craft a ton of iron daggers and enchant them with it. Buy gems, chant daggers with banish, sell daggers back, save/kill/reload.

Yes, the enchant stays. Be quick about enchanting as you only have 30 seconds to do so. If the potion wears off while you're picking, you will see the drop on the tooltip. Be decisive and quick, and keep a clean inventory for it to speed things up.

Is your potion for Ench/Smithing too high? Unequip a piece of your alchemy gear, and keep doing so until it's back in the positive numbers. Taken all 4 pieces off and still too high? You dun goofed, reload and start the loop again.

2: Face the table / bench or grindstone, make sure the fortify restoration potion has worn off! Save.
3: Open inventory, drink associated potion (Fortify enchanting for enchanting, forty smithing for smithing).
4: Exit inventory, and activate table/bench/grindstone quickly.
5: Smithing - Select the item, select upgrade.
Enchanting - select the item, select the enchant(s) quickly, select the gem quickly, craft the item.
I didn't test if the rename function pauses the timer or not, use at risk.

5.) If all that crap is taken care of, save while looking at an alchemy table that is safe (if it's in a shop, make sure the shop just opened so you don't get interrupted with trespassing). "Why looking at the table, does it do something?" Because when you get greedy, and fuck up the loop and roll over into the negatives, do you really want to do all that prep shit again? Or just dive right back into looping? (It's rhetorical.)

End preparation work, begin loop steps:

almost all enchantments are restoration effects, the potion makes restoration effects stronger, and thus makes your enchanted items stronger for the duration.

as for why enchantments are restoration effects, no idea

"Guards are attacking me wtf?"
Refer to "I screwed up." and the Preparation section about entering as soon as the shop opens to avoid this.
"It stopped increasing."
Yes, this again. Either refer to "I screwed up." or evaluate by seeing if you have crappy enchantments / alchemy and need to loop quite a bit to see any results (See preparation section).
"I turned into a werewolf/vampire."
Refer to "I screwed up." and take this into account when preparing.
"My game froze."
Refer to "I screwed up".

how does fortifying restoration make your enchantments for alchemy go up?

kurdtkobain
Автор

If you use the potion then enchant something it will be stronger in numbers. If the potion wears off and you just have your fortify enchantment gear on, it won't be as strong. Do be careful though as you can over enchant your equipment to where it shows a negative number. Such as: -32198765123. The resell value drastically goes down on enchanted items if it's in the negative.

What if you create a fortify enchantment potion with your overpowered glitched alchemy loop? Will the fortify enchantment potion enchant an item with crazy abilities after the fortify restoration potion has worn off?

Are the potions the only things that stay forever maxed out? Everything else goes back to normal whenever I walk out a door. Did I do something wrong or is that meant to happen?
