Skyrim - A Return to Your Roots - Sinderion's Serendipity Perm Alchemy Effect

This video shows how to complete "A Return to Your Roots", a quest triggered by harvesting a Crimson Nirnroot in Blackreach. This quest grants the reward "Sinderion's Serendipity", a permanent Active Effect which grants a 25% chance of making two potions instead of one when you craft with alchemy.

*** IT IS VERY IMPORTANT *** that you do not harvest more than one Crimson Nirnroot before reading Sinderion's Field Journal, because any Nirnroot you have in your inventory prior to reading the field journal will not count toward the total. There is a limited number of Crimson Nirnroot in Blackreach and if you harvest too many in advance, you might not be able to complete this quest (PC console commands may work).

It was sad to find Sinderion in Blackreach. So this is where that Skingrad alchemist from Cyrodil finally ended up. I could hear his voice in my head while I was reading his journals.

This quest is very beneficial if you like to focus yourself on mastering your alchemy skill. Which is really helpful to me in my case.

Sinderion was the Elf from Oblivion who sent you on the Nirnroot quest. I think it's sad that he ended up dead in Blackreach. When I read his journal, I can imagine hearing it in his voice.

saying " For your bug about the auto talking, I would start by clearing the game data on your Xbox360. If it keeps speaking to you it might be because one part of the game has not yet been covered." Bethsoft Support a wild shot in the dark, why? cuz
I sent in email saying "bug" was fixed, after, doing a quest (45 game hours later).
well fellow gamers "lost three house $ 800, 000 ..`$, tons of armor, kids wife & a chitload
of ingredients, includind 11 of these ... Crimson Nirnroot..., so on with another quest .

Anyone else find it odd that Sinderion was alive in Oblivion which was 200 years before Skyrim? And that people act like he only died like last year... And that his is still alive after 200 years too?

@GeeDGAF - those are the normal ones. the crimson only come from Blackreach.

I accidentally started this quest a couple weeks ago. Finished it too, (year 2020), I came here to see what others thought of it. My personal view is that unless you’re really into alchemy, it’s no good. The effect is not worth the time taken to find all these crimson nirnroots without watching a video. I should’ve watched a video to show me the locations of them all

Ok, so I had -12, and didn't think I could finish it, but if you go to a barrel, store all the nirnroots at once, then take them out one at a time, your number of nirnroots goes up.

@terminator94zozo - the reward is decent if you do much alchemy. it sure is streaky. can go 10+ potions without a double then hit four or five doubles in a row. have to love probability. i think it is definitely worth the time to do this.

@TotalSavage1 - when you say "this" do you mean blackreach? it is the largest dungeon in the game and you are sent there as part of the main quest line. if you are not that far yet, the easiest way in is through alftrand, southwest of winterhold.

The dwarves could have turned Sinderion away when he came for study, but Sinderion sneaked in a dwarve house and the guards found him and killed him.

the crimson nirnroots respawn, every 1 month on console, or (if modded) a much shorter ammount on PC.

Well, Avrusa IS a Duunmer, and they live just as long as all other elves, so he could have visited a hundred years before.

I notice in alot of your videos, you wear casual stuff but never take damage and kill things easily. Does it matter what gear you use at higher levels?
