NASA scientists say its Curiosity rover discovered high amounts of methane gas on Mars. On Earth, the gas is typically produced by living things. CBS News space consultant Bill Harwood joined CBSN to discuss if this observation could mean there's life on Mars.

So, despite all of the advanced technology employed by the Martians to conceal their existence from us they were given away by their farts.

I'm absolutely certain that microorganisms live under the surface of Mars where the water is and the pressure is

Why does everyone pretend like there isnt HEAVY cloud cover on Mars? Almost every photo of Mars Ive seen from the surface has HEAVY clouds and cloud cover.

I think mars was a viable planet at one time, then something cosmically took it out.

I'm getting tired of them assuming proof of life in everything they find except for finding the actual life itself.

Or it could be abiogenic methane produced by hydrothermal conditions - which is still pretty exciting as this suggests that there's more water locked in Mars than previously considered.

Isn't it amazing how Mars looks in no way like the Arizona desert with a filter over it ...

Every news story about Mars for the last 20 years has begun with a journalist making some outrageous claim usually regarding life on Mars, and then a scientist coming on and saying "now hold on a minute...."

13 parts per billion is equivalent to 39 seconds out of 100 years. Seems like the least significant thing ever.
