there is so much out there in space we have barley cracked the tip we as a human race need to evolve faster before we get wiped out by a meteor

The answer is YES....a long time ago...and not just microbes.  However, if the plan is to send people to Mars in the near future, they are going to have to spill the beans (some of them) eventually.
