I was trying to figure out how to get the acid to stay in contact with the stain... toilet paper... that is BRILLIANT!!

My daughter in her new flat has this problem and I’m hoping your tip is the solution we’ve been looking for, because the poor child finds it embarrassing when she has guests and her landlord doesn’t seem to want to do anything. Will post again with a thumbs up if all is a success!!

Thanks, Karl. I was hoping to avoid toxic stuff like muriatic acid, and you've shown me better, and cheaper, solution.

Good video. Short, precise and helpful. Approximately how many cls. of vinegar did you use?

I used a half a gallon of vinegar with a bottle brush. Took about 30 minutes of constantly splashing the solution around with the brush. Got rid of about 90%. It could have be the vinegar is being diluted by the rust. Going to try again with a fresh solution to get that last 10%

That was disgusting yet so informative. Thank you for this. Any idea how to deal with rug fringes? 🤔

This doesn't work on the worst stains. I let my whole bowl soak in vinegar for 10+ hours and then scrub. I still have a ring around where the water line normally is, and the stains down in the very bottom where you're showing stains is also immovable. The rest of the bowl does get clean though. It's like I need to scrub with steel wool or something.

Vinegar takes longer... They sell stronger formulations. I have a bottle of 45% vinegar I use for killing weeds. I wonder if that would be safe on a toilet surface, and alot faster?

You didn't say how long you soaked the bowl for or if there was any scrubbing involved. Also how can I tell the difference between rust stains and regular toilet stains since bleach can remove regular toilet stains but will set rust stains in

how did you 'vacuum' the water out?

does it work with regular white vinegar ? I tried it and did not work. is only on the rims not where the water sits so theres no point on draining it i feel

You mentioned muriatic acid in another comment. Any chance of this "etching" the porcelain or glaze and making it worse?
