The furlong is actually 220 yards. It has nothing to do with metric units. However, it approximates to about 200m or one fifth if a metre.

As big words go, 'callipygian' is still my favorite!

As a french i was helped by some almost identical words in french. Denigrate (dénigrer), abjure (abjurer), ere (ère), malefactor (faire le mal), zenith (zénith), rendezvous (rendez-vous), sojourned (séjourné), oust (oust), desiderata (désidérata ), corbel (corbeille), feign (feindre). 21 out of 30.

The very poor diction and pronunciation ruined my enjoyment of this quiz. I think this quiz would only be difficult for an American as most of the words are part of everyday speech in the UK.

It's a pity the quiz master couldn't actually pronounce some of the words.

NB 'Furlong' is imperial, not metric - also 'Aghast' could mean both 1 and 2. 29/30 - didn't get 'corbel'

This would have been better if all YOUR definitions were correct. Noisome - Oxford dictionary says: ‘having an extremely offensive smell. Disagreeable, unpleasant odour.’ It has nothing to do with poison.
Merriam Webster dictionary says: ‘stinking and fetid, suggest foul or disgusting as well as offensive.’ Also does not mention poison.

That said, I got 29/30

noisome - having an extremely offensive smell.
"noisome vapours from the smouldering waste"
very disagreeable or unpleasant.

If 99 percent could'nt answer correctly, then 99 percent must be very dense. The lady asking the questions even had diffuculty pronouncing the questions correctly. Where did you take the poll? I think I can guess.

To ere is human, to forgive, devine. oh, aye err. Silly me. Sorry. Lovely work, and again, thanks for making the day that much sunnier. ❤

26 right answers ☹ but who is that girl who speaks as if she had her mouth full of pebbles or semen or both 😂 ? And the equivalent of a verb in the present tense in the question cannot be a verb in a progressive tense in the answer😈 .
