Dr. Peter Feaver, Director of the Duke Program in American Grand Strategy, engaged with Ambassador Michael McFaul, a leading expert on Russia, American foreign policy, and democratic development, about Russia's invasion into Ukraine, Vladimir Putin’s ambitions, and the future of the relationship between the U.S. and Russia.
Michael McFaul is Director at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, the Ken Olivier and Angela Nomellini Professor of International Studies in the Department of Political Science at Stanford University and the Peter and Helen Bing Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution. He is also an International Affairs Analyst for NBC News and a Columnist for The Washington Post. McFaul served for five years in the Obama administration, first as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Russian and Eurasian Affairs at the National Security Council, and then as the U.S. Ambassador to the Russian Federation.
