Honestly thought it was just a visually effect of his powers kicking in/manifesting.

It could be the extension/visualization of the “bio-electric aura” John Byrne came up with as a way to explain Supes’ powers when DC had him handle the Superman post-Crisis on Infinite Earths reboot. The aura was envisioned as a force field which contributed to Clark’s invulnerability and strength but also allowed for flight (bouncing off Earth’s geomagnetic field) and prevented things he was lifting from falling apart (by extending the field subconsciously around stuff he was touching).

I think it’s a pure aesthetic choice. He isn’t discharging electricity or shooting out or anything. It’s just there to look cool and because is a very anime thing, in line with this shows art style
