How to Show Day of Week in Windows 10 Taskbar Clock

By default, Windows doesn’t add the day of the week (for example, Monday, Tuesday, etc) to the system tray clock. Here is a simple ways to make Windows 10 show day of week in the task bar notification area.
1. go to setting
2. time and language
3. additional date, time and regional settings
4. set the time and date
5. change date and time
6. change calendar settings
7. change date formats:
short date: ddd/m/d/yyyy

Now there is an additional step in Win 10. After Change Calendar Settings, click Additional Settings > Date and then you can type dddd infront of Short date.

for the newer Win10 versions you additionally have to disable small buttons in the taskbar settings (or increase the size of your taskbar) otherwise the date will won't show up

Thank you so much! At my age, and being retired, I sometimes have a great deal of difficulty remembering what day of the week it is. I use my computer a lot, but it didn't show the day of the week. I used to have a clock that showed both the day of the week and the date, but it died. I am so grateful for this and really appreciate you posting this tip. You're a hero to us old people!

Be aware that this setting is not only for the taskbar!!! Thist is a global setting. Check how it looks in your explorer when you sort your file by date ;) The weekday in front is useless....or not?

This didn't fix my problem. For some reason only the time would display on my taskbar, and not the date. I tried various things and finally by switching to "OFF" the button saying "Use Small Taskbar Buttons" the date finally showed up at the same time as the time of day.
